LARP vs COSPLAY

What are you even talking about? I'm offering my opinion on larping, cosplay and anime and the broken individuals they attract - how is that being a keyboard warrior?

And if the 'one could' / 'one is' distinction was made to add a hint of passive aggressiveness to your nonsense then don't bother, it adds nothing to your argument.

Broken individuals?

Get a grip on yourself.

Being a forum warrior and downing on other peoples lifestyle is much more indicative of a "broken individual" than people who go out and share a hobby in public with like minded individuals.

I have heard some garbage on these forums before but you have managed to transcend it all with what you have said.

... now take your crown and get up on that throne before you face the wrath of the foam-wielding Executioner of Throlbarg!!!

His name's Tim and he's a really nice guy, actually.

I can't help but think of Ken Jeong as the king in Role Models :D

On the other hand wouldn't say no to a hot LARPer or Cosplay fan but as said above it probably is finding a needle in a stack of cigarette butts :p

I'm talking about your opinion of the people who take part in Larping and cosplay.

You are generalising to the extreme with your comments.

I can assure you that they are plenty of perfectly capable, sound and healthy individuals who take part, what struck me with the people who do it are very none judgemental people who were more than happy to take on kids and young adults who do have problems with their lives who were/are desperate for friends/a hobby that broke their own crappy lives into something they could enjoy.

Your assumptions are, quite frankly, a load of old codswhallop. Hence "get a clue".

As for the keyboard warrior statement, regarding what assumptions one could make about a prolific forum poster like yourself...

... It was an example of how one 'could' make the same kind of generalisation/assumpion about a person/group, without actually knowing them and judging them based their own ignorance of said person/group of people.

The shoe on the other foot, somewhat.

I don't think LARP'ing or even Cosplay is really worse that what many people do at the weekend (dressing up in funny outfits, running around throwing a ball at each other in teams of 5-11 at a time to complex rules that can make little sense, some people make millions doing that others do it before a pint at the inn:p).

It's basically a fun social activity that can involve a large element of story telling and some creative work, whilst being a fairly good way to keep fit, and often enjoying being outdoors.

Certainly beats the hell out of going out getting drunk and nursing a hangover.

It just amuses me that a bunch of people on a computer forum, who are often quite into geeky games, and spend a fortune trying to get the best performance out of hardware look down on people that get out, spend a lot of time running around in a social manner maybe four or five times a year.

Haha... OK, I asked if these people were "serious", in a playful manner. I'm sure that both activities are a great laugh and a minority do take it too seriously, but I think the fundamental thing here is that you have one shot at life on Earth. If doing something that appears crazy to others makes you happy, no matter how derogatory their comments are, then you should just get on with it and enjoy yourself. :)

I was merely curious and I don't intend to pick on anyone. :) If people on the internet slate you for being a deviant, but you feel happy and fulfilled, then who is really worse off? Kudos to those who've posted with their experiences tbh. Some people dress up as animals and spend the weekend with buttplugs in their anus for thrills. This is nowhere near that level for weirdness IMO.

I'd quite like to watch a LARP event for the lulz to be honest. Not in a taking the urine way, but more for the entertainment. I was never a D&D tabletop guy but loved the NWN games, so there. :p

Hang on, even I'd admit that cosplayers and larpers are several stages less mental than furries. That's a whole different ball game.

Yeah, I think that both fall into the harmless category, before that line that says "needs psychological help". :D

Where is that thread about someone's mum dressed up as a feline again? ;)

You should check out some of the re-enactment crew. If you want serious buisness it's right there.

I know guys with full on plate male and ******* swords that go at each other like juggernauts, sparks flying and the lot!

Then we all get drunk drinking flagons of mead around the fire and the real halarity starts when a couple of guitars get whipped out and the historical songs start to turn into recent music.

There's something amusing about them singing stone roses songs and the like...

... damn it, need to get me a sword and some proper armour.

There is some Form of regular cosplay event near where I live on Sunday's as I often see people walking to it. Suffice to say I have not seen one person who looks remotely like the pictures posted here  if I was being judgemental I could easily say they look a little socially awkward.

But think of stamp collectors or train spotters or people who follow a lower league soccer team all around the country? Potentially not the coolest hobbies but as they have a bright red latex mini skirt on no one would ever know.
