Was just on the phone to virgin about some down time from tonight, but as i was on the phone it came back on, the guy then gave me a tip of going to my advanced super hub settings and changing channels from 'auto to 30, and from 300mbps to 145mbps. he said this will improve my wireless signal, i said "oh great.. thanks.." will this actually help?

For a second when he was asking me about my connection I thought he was going to question my usenet use :p

You won't pay any more than you do now. If there is any price increases, then they will be the usual +/-£0.50-£1.50 you see each year, not only from Virgin, but Sky etc.

On VM 50meg at the moment and have had the letter confirming the upgrade to 100meg / 120meg last week.

I now received another letter this morning saying that the cost of my package will increase by £4.25 a month.

So i'll be paying around £75 a month for land line, 50meg, XL tv.

Just on the off chance, anyone done any WAN > LAN testing at 100Mb on a Dlink 615 D2 with DDWRT? With stock firmware it only goes 88Mb/s apparently, however I don't have 100Mb to test it with when running DDWRT.

If not I'll just go and buy the Asus RT-N56U or RT-N66U :/

With the TV bundle it will be more. Its normally not more than £2 for just broadband.

My letter said my 30MB (just 30MB, although their lowest landline was thrown in free) is going up by £1.50.

great my letter arrived today to say my package is going up by 4.25.

So my free upgrade to 100mb isnt actually free. Thanks Virgin media.

I'm about to upgrade from 10Mb to 30Mb and I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Should I do it via the website or is it better to go into the VM shop? When doing it over the internet will I be receiving phone calls or letters? Also it says that no installation is needed. I have the old NTL modem though, so I guess it sort of is. How does it exactly work with the internet order?

Just do it over the phone and if your modem is up to it, your speed will be upgraded within the hour.

i think i've found why mine has improved so much - 100Mbps is now available to order. it was due to be upgraded in april but must have been done ahead of schedule. i'm not talking about the speed doubling - i think mine is one of the last areas to get 100Mbps full stop and they must have added some extra capacity to cope with it.

with the free upgrades due to be rolled out before july, hopefully no one is going to order 100Mbps and it will at least stay like this for a few months before the **** really hits the fan. :p
