Hi guys,

So I've just talked up a little deal with a second hand dealer was wondering to get a third person perspective..

The car I'm buying is a Ford Fiesta, 2008, 30200 miles, service history, new MOT, HPI check, no road tax, 3 door petrol..
The car is in pretty good condition apart from the odd wear and tear (i.e. rear wheel rim has a few scuffs from being kerbed, seats are a little dirty nothing some vanish won't sort though, and a few light scratches on the bonnet), and the exhaust is a bit ratteling but I know exhausts aren't expensive to replace or even just tighten... The one other 'major' problem of the car is it needs a radio code, how easy is it to get hold of these and how much am I looking at?

I got the car for £4000

I'm part exchanging my Tata Safari for £600, the jeep was valued at £1380 last year via Parkinson's but can't get a valuation for it now as it isn't even recognised (not a popular make I suppose), so I'm assuming the jeep value may be £1000 give and take, only problem is it has proved difficult to get rid of this burdened vehicle so I guess I make the losses or still hold onto it which will only end up in more depreciation..

So overall the deal is £3400 including my jeep for part ex. What u guys think?

Where is this Fiesta coming from?

My gut feeling is it sounds expensive given the issues, and the likely cost of resolving some of them.

Radio code is easy to sort, but bar a few marks here and there.

I wouldn't expect a used car to be dirty or needing any mechanical work!

This is the dealers job, I'd ask them to have the car valeted, get the radio code, and sort the exhaust out before you take it.

Good points. TBF the car has been valeted, that's first thing I noticed about it and made me think if the dealer was covering something with the fancy wax and polish work but it is actually in pretty good nick, it would be considering plastic isn't hard to maintain lol!

But yes will definitely ask him to get the radio code sorted for me, I wouldn't worry too much about the exhaust as I can easily get that sorted myself. TBF he did knock off £100 for me in regards to the exhaust issue.

Sounds like you've made your mind up already, as long as you're happy and don't feel as if you're being taken for a ride you should be fine.

Is that supposed to be a single sentence rather than two paragraphs? If not what do you mean about the bar?
