Oh look, Verdetrol has awoken!
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
It's even less than that adopting your figures.
40W x 3hrs / 1000 = 0.12kWh
0.12kWh @ 12p = 1.44p/day
1.44p * 365.242199 days = ~£5.26/year.
So 5-6 years to get the extra cost back of buying a HD 7770 over a HD 6850.
Just very brief off the top of my head figures. But yes, completely mute point is the green debate. Seriously I know we're in a recession but trying to make the 7770 sound good because it would save you some money after about thirty years is kinda reaching.
dave_beast.
You're a decent chap and I must admit I am rather fond of you, but please, drop the AMD fanboy bit just for a bit. The 7770 is a terribly poor over priced card with AMD's marketing pap to go with it which to me has made it worse.
Maybe now it can be clear once and for all that I am no "fan boy" of any company or any product.
A good product is a good product and a bad one is bad.
See also - Radeon 7770. It's bad.
19% faster is hardly "nothing much" lol
It's poor when you consider the prices and that the HD 5770 was released nearly two and a half years ago.
The HD 6770 (which is essentially the same as a HD 5770) currently costs around £80 so the HD 7770 costs around 50% more for 19% more performance over two and a half year old technology.
Oh look, Verdetrol has awoken!
Ok, without mentioning price or comparing it to last gen cards, tell me why it's bad?
Ok, without mentioning price or comparing it to last gen cards, tell me why it's bad?
And as I keep saying, that's disproportionate gain in favour of price.
These are meant to be your budget cards, your bang for buck cards.
Are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?
I thought that was pretty much the point I was making?
I'm agreeing.
I'm agreeing.
The gain of price is disproportionate to the performance gain.
It's one point I've been making a lot, the 7XXX shows it clearly.
EDIT : It's actually amazing how AMD went through the effort of hyping the 7770 with its marketing lark.
You're quite right.
It's a wonderful card if you ignore all the important facts![]()
When looking at the price of the 7770 compared to the 6850 it's seems expensive, but remember those 6850's are priced to clear them.
And to all the haters of the 7770, crossfire them for £230 and get 7950 performance.
or get 2 x HD 6850`s for CF and get near 7970 performance for less money than the 7770!
no ofc not - and it`ll be how prices come down (or not) on AMD offerings vs the overpriced Nvidia offerings...
