5870 Died. Spec me New one.

Turned on PC this afternoon after work expecting to game...

How wrong I was..

ARTIFACTS EVERYWHERE.

New one in order.

Spec me bros.

Around £150 at a push, dont really want/ need an upgrade, just a sidestep really.

Best for your budget would be a 1GB GTX560Ti. If you can stretch just a bit more could get 2GB 6950 if you search around.

6870 would be a slight downgrade. Maybe a second hand 6950?

you should just play with the artifacts until it completly dies and you dont even get an image anymore

otherwise GTX560Ti for £160 which is equivelant to your 5870

Heatgunning the GPU may fix it. Although only temporary.

Bake it in the oven.

Don't waste your time backing it. It does not replace deteriorated flux.

It will last a couple of months at best and you will be back to square one.

Sadly for £150 you won't get a card that performs as well as a 5870 unless you pick one up second hand.

Edit. On second thoughts a 560ti may just cut it.

5870 replacement

Buy 2 5850's for around £160 2nd hand from the MM - pretty much beats any single card config until you go upto silly money cards (as long as the games you like support Crossfire *cough*SKYRIM!!*cough*

Yes a 6950/6970 is a nice upgrade. Failing that I agree with others in the 560TI department.

It won't give much higher fps most of the time, but it gives much better averages and far smoother gameplay with higher minimums.
