My lodger has been going on since I have known him about owning a Vectra GSi.

To be honest I have had little to no interest in Vectra's and had no idea what one was till yesterday.

He came back after borrowing 2k from the bank with a Y reg 2.6 GSi. To me it looks a bit boy racer but he insists it his his dream car he has always wanted to own (he's 50).

He has had a shady driving history so insurance has cost him 1700 pounds and the tax is due which is £465. Best he has achieved is 21mpg and he does a shed load of miles a day and is only a kitchen helper in a pub.

I can see me struggling to get the rent out of him with these kind of running costs, but that is a different matter.

He is now insistent he is going to have a tracker fitted as it is bound to be very sort after.

Am I missing something but I feel like he is acting like he has bought a Porsche 911 or something.?

your housemate sounds a knowledfgable buyer of vehicles

tell him I have a low mileage(ex taxi )2006 vectra elite for a bargain price only 210k miles his for 3 grand :)

and no the 2.6 vec B is a bag of crap plese tell me he didnt spend 2 grand on it

Sounds like he spent £1700 of the £2k on the insurance..... I think he paid top dollar for the Vectra :D

Nope he paid 1695 for the vectra, which he thinks is worth 2.5k even though the book price is 810. He is paying £140 a month for insurance after a £396 deposit. He can't afford the tax at the moment so I can see my rent going for a burton.

It was like a Mondeo ST200 only not as good.

it was like a mondeo st200 but nowhere near as good.

ffs for 1700 he could have picked up a vectra-c 3.2 gsi , whilst not a great car far superior to a vectra B 2.6

and £140 a month ffs thats horrendous :( where do you live, a warzone?

I live in a tiny rural village oustide Horsham. The most action we get is Morris dancers slushed on Sunday. He never pays his insurance so nil NCB.

I did sugest the newer one but he said they were rubbish compared to the older one???

Friend of mine had a 2.5(iirc) Y reg Vectra that had a few faults, despite it sitting on the drive for months with the keys in it, nobody stole it & he eventually scrapped it!

So, no, your lodger has not got a 911 rival, he sounds like a bit of a nutter!!! :D

Tell him the cost of the tracker is going in your pocket for lodgings, or he's out of the door.

tell him to do the 3 pipe mod or whatever its called, (cutt the pipe down in the air box and make the air intake more aerodynamic).
