currently looking at another vectra for taxiiing and by god they've went cheap

was up the auctions today and some of the 1 owner fleet stuff was going through for stupid money. im talking 2009 58 plate Sri diesels for £3500 with sensible miles and full history. now these are 3 yr old diesel family size car for silly money,

also a great advert for vauxhalls residual values what was the list price on a 2009 sri vectra 150 diesel? circa 23-24 grand? i know theres very few people actually paid that but c'mon its worth 20% of list price after 3 years eek

cracking used buy though

You drive it for 2 hours and you will have rickets.

having an sri and an elite i'd agree with you on the sri :) bone shaking is not the word,

the elite on the other hand is like driving a large pot of jelly.

and no not an alter ego :) change of callsign so i decided to finally update my username

That was the point he was making :p.
An 09 ish plate one for about £6500 was the topic of the thread. It still had warranty on it!

after what i've been looking at the last few days that seems overpriced :)

up here they've replaced mk1 skoda octavias as the taxi of choice. not exactly up there with the likes of a 3 series in terms of driving dynamics(think more along the lines of a cross between a milkfloat and a skip ) but vfm their fantastic. Insignias on the other hand seem to be holding value a lot better (probably one of the reasons vectra prices have plummeted ) but they are a step up from the vectra.

still i'll be having another 1 possibly 2 as for that kind of value I cannot find anything better

Are these auctions only open to the trade?

nope open to all,

have a google for your local car auctions do a bit of research and see who offers what your after,

was british car auctions sale i was at, although we have central car auctions and manheim within 5 minutes of here

That's unreal value, surely the guy didn't sell it for that price?

Back to OT, my dad has an 04 Vectra 2.2 DTI SRI Auto and he loves it. He's a clear fanboy in this case (and won't accept that fact either). It's a piece of crap. There are two things going for it:
- The engine has been ridiculously reliable for a diesel. The 1.9 CDTi that replaced it is far better on economy and performance from what I've heard, but not as tankadin as this one.
- It was cheap even when he bought it. Vauxhalls have the worst off-shelf depreciation of any car I can think of, so it wasn't a bad price when he bought it. Case in point, my grandad just got a top-spec 60 plate Meriva 1.4T for 40% list price.

Everything else about it sucks. The auto box is disgraceful, it takes a good 13 seconds to hit 60. The auto box also ruins the fuel economy. It sounds as noisy as my 1.9 TDI Ibiza. And that's not even getting started on the interior. For being "SRI" the seats are horrible and the plastic is cheap and nasty. But as I say, dad loves it. If the engine gives up any time soon these 1.9 CDTI £3.5k examples OP is talking about are probably what he'll end up with...

Probably because that particular car has a design that only it's designer could love :p

Just look at that front, ouch!

For me it was the driving position, I simply could not get comfy behind the wheel of any of them when I drove them. I was thinking about one as a station car a few years back and I came out with ricketts after a test drive.

funny you should say that, took me a good while to get a comfortable position in mine, bleeding nightmare when someone moves it though
