PSU Making Electrical noises & electrical smell?!

no idea, but if your PSU goes pop it can take some of your stuff with it. I would bin it and get a new one.

Better safe than sorry for the sake of £30 or so pounds.

Yep the Kettle lead, should have mentioned that before...

Should I just get the same PSU or a different one? lol

Edit: Just changed lead and it made one a little noise and then went silent? Should it be ok?

Yes it's fine. Throw lead away. Don't buy a new PSU. Everyone's happy (except whoever would have profited out of you buying a unnecessary PSU)

There are large capacitors and inductors in the power supply so maybe it's those or maybe a relay engaging or perhaps a mechanical safety device closing a circuit. I don't really know all that much about ATX Switchmode power supplies.

Mine clicks for me if I switch mine on with the 01 switch at the back or if I push the kettle lead connector on with the switch already engaged.

It's plugged into a 10 socket extension with surge protection, which are always in use.. Could that be it?

I think I'm just going to buy a new PSU to be honest. Hopefully it'll be ok till Monday
