I have BT Infinity with the Home Hub 3 (typeA)
Also recently i bought the WD Live TV box so i could stream music and films from my PC upstairs to the WD box downstairs and play through the TV / AV receiver.

The problem i have is that i cannot access any films on the PC and it only finds a small selection of the music.

Does anyone know if there is a known issue with the HH3 maybe conflicting / Blocking the WD Live TV ?

I'm quite a novice, but the settings seem to be straight forward, almost plug and play. It finds the PC upstairs no problem, but all the shared folders don't seem to be available

I have read before that people have had similar problems, and got round it by using powerline plugs, But surely that just defeats the object of buying the streaming version of the WD ? i could have bought a much cheaper no wireless one  There must be a simple setting or bit of software or something to make this flippin thing work like it's supposed to.

I have also bought a WD live TV box and I use Tversity media server from here.

This is a free media server and it works great with my WD live TV box and I have no problems playing all movies, pictures and music from my PC upstairs to the live box downstairs.

Thanks, I will take a look.
Is that working in conjunction with a HH3 infinity router though ?

On the WDTV are you looking for a Media server or Network shares?

I also have a WDTV and it works amazing with a Network share!

I've got the Homehub2 for BT Infinity and a WDLive streamer and could not get it to work consistently with the BT router.

Worked fine with the previous Sky router with no issues at all.

With the Homehub it will occasionally find the WDLive and all the shared content but would drop the wired connection after approx 30 minutes.

Once dropped the only way to reconnect was to power things off and then back on.
Rinse repeat and so on!!!
Had the exact same issue when connecting it to internet enabled TV.

Never managed to get it working. Ending up using second LAN port on PC to connect directly to it via homeplugs.

A few issues have been highlighted on the BT Community forums regarding streaming through their crappy homehubs.

One possible solution was confirmed as using a switch in the network between the streamer and Homehub but I think this was for a Homehub2

If you find a solution post it up here.

Thats exactly what i had read.
the WD can see my pc, and will consistantly find some tracks and some odd videos, BUT none of which are stored in the shared folder of films and music ?

Tonight I am going to try the Tversity media server software mentioned above.. Will let you know how i get on !

Next option if that don't work is to strap some fireworks to the HH3 ;) , then once it is in heaven i will replace with a suitable netgear router ! Any suggestions.

I've still got the BT Homecrud2 but I'm sure the kind folk off here can make some good suggestions for an alternative.

I reckon the BT custom firmware is the issue with the Homehub as most routers have no issue with media streamers.

Possibly some sort of power saving feature that switches off connections after a set amount of time 30 mins approx?

Well Big thanks to themul :D
I now have it working to some degree using Tversity.
It's not great, but i can now watch films & listen to music, although it still drops out every so often which is a pain in the middle of a film, it just says content source removed.
