Hi guys,

I have just got a new graphics card (6870) which requires 2 x 6 pin connectors.

My PSU has 2x 6 pin connectors, but they are both on the same wire, the wires from the second connector come out from the first connector.

Is this going to be ok, or should i use a molex adapter for one of the ports?

Thanks in advance.

What PSU make and model is it?

I think I've seem some Lepa PSU's wired that way.

If the manufacturer has wired it that way then I assume it's OK to use but we'll work that out when you post the make and model.

It's a G7 780w. I believe G7 is an own brand of a high street electrical component shop.

I know i should be using a better PSU but I only figured that out after i bought it. I reasoned this one would be ok untill I go Crossfire.

From the looks of this sheet it should be fine... I think.

EDIT: Wow nevermind! Just realised it's part of a competitor site! Link removed :p.

It is best to use different rails for PCI-e connectors, but your gfx card is not power hungry, so you should get away with it:)

Cool, thanks guys.

So what is the verdict, just use the 2 x 6 pin connectors I have rather than using 1 molex?
Yeah, then watch for problems, if it crashes, reboots, blue screens, it may be worth splitting them. I wouldn't use that config for a 6900 series or higher, BUT for yours, should be fine. Used that config on my sons PC and it's hunkey dorey! See how it goes when your overclocking... if you intend to which judging by your CPU, you will lol

The current rating of the cable is (usually) larger than that of the terminals so its quite acceptable to have them on one lead. Ideally they'd be on two but its cheaper to link them.

OK thanks guys, i'll just use the 2x 6 pins I have.

I'm thinking im not going to overclock until I get it under water, I don't really want the extra noise....

....We will see what has happened in a week or so though, it wouldn't take much to get me blue screening like there is no tomorrow.
