Alan Wake now appears to be heading to Steam!!

Bought this on Steam last night. Can't wait. I was going to get it for the Xbox until mine broke. Hopefully I can get it downloaded in a reasonable amount of time this evening.

Downloaded this at the max by internet can do last night; 1.2mb/s. T'was done in about two hours and my connection is deemed very slow in this day and age :p.

Extremely well optimised for PC and a great storyline. Remedy delivered :)

The fact that the game doesn't run a constant 60fps even on a HD 7970 at 1080p, you still think its well optimised?

I have a 6950/70 and it runs at max detail at 1080p perfectly. Who cares what some chart says. Playing the game I notice no slowdown or any kind of problems. This is probably one of the best console to pc ports that has been released.

If you don't mind playing the game at between 30-48fps @1080p then thats fine. But for those looking for a perfectly smooth rock solid 60fps @ 1080p gameplay, then not even the most powerful single GPU is enough...

Those looking for a needlessly high FPS for a third person survival horror game can look elsewhere I guess.

The thing is though, if you are use to playing games at 60fps regardless or genre and are sensitive to framerate drops, then although 30-45 may be perfectly fine and playable, nothing beats a rock solid 60fps.

Also, this game is a console port at the end of the day and a HD7970 is more than 10x the power of the 360, yet is unable to maintain a solid 60fps where as in 99% of the other games it can do that without breaking a sweat?

I play pretty much all my games at 60fps solid and I notice no different here, there is no sudden frame drops that make it jumpy or anything like that and its one of the best looking games I have seen.

Also its not directly a console port.

Yes because that chart is BS, same as all benchmarks on that site. So grab that benchmark and chuck it in the recycle bin. Now I have D3DOverrider off I am getting 45-60 totally maxed on a 6950. AMD seems to work better for AW atm, some people with Nvidia drivers are having slight performance issues. Makes a change for AMD to do better for once on a release.

That benchmark says I can dip to 31fps, when I had D3DOverrider with forced v-sync and triple buffer I never dipped below 45fps.

I had the same problem. Finally managed to get somewhere (slowly) after changing my download server to Ireland instead of London, but it's still only hovering around 100kb/s. Better than nothing I suppose :o

Brilliant game so far although there are bugs. No SLI profile for it and for a game that is Nvidia 3D vision kit 2 ready, the shadows and lights convergence is slightly off, ruining the 3D experience and giving eye strain very easily. On just one of my cards though its pretty much 60fps constantly with 3D putting the FPS to around 45 constantly, which isn't too bad (for a single GPU game).

amazing game! looks so good in 3d using my samsung 950d

only got to the gas station and im pooing my pants already never known anything about this game before cause im not a console derp and absolutely love it! the lighting is so class!

playing with xbox pad as feels more natural then m+k!

It's a great game, I completed it on 360 before it was announced for PC, I would have waited if I'd have known.

It was technically announced for the pc before the 360, before they decided to change it :p

Really good game finished chapter 1 earlier but missed a few manuscript pages. Do you have to go back and find them if you want to read them or do they appear at some point?
