had a late night last night, and was quite happily snoring away when the wife woke me up back of 5 this morning, telling me the bathroom is flooded. so after being rudely woken up the first thing i noticed was a lovely smell permeating the house. a quick look in the bathroom revealed a lovely bath sink and toilet full or raw sewage which has decided to overflow all over the bathroom :(

so after a good solid couple of hours of literally shovelling **** I have dynorod here shaking their heads and trying to find a blockage.

i would post pics but its not really what you want to see with your breakfast

wish me luck chaps ;) i guess it will be a full new bathroom suite to fit this weekend

any tips on dealing with the aftermath muchly appreciated

Lovely... Doesn't really sound like a blockage in your house if it's Sewage that's coming up... Although guess it could be..

Hopefully insurance will cover it though..

well no internal blockage, dynorod been and gone, blockage was with pipework outside. but they cant tell exactly where. ended up with the high pressure jetting stuck down the drain which seems to have dislodged whatever was causing the backup. just spoke to our nextdoor neighbour who has woke up to the same thing :(

few things in our favour,

bathroom is a concrete floor so easy cleared once i lift the flooring up
wife wanted to redecorate the bathroom anyway :)

will report back later once i've ripped it apart :)

You think that's bad? I called the house phone from my bed and left a message ordering a coffee 10 minutes ago and it STILL hasn't showed up.

We had a similar thing and the blockage was five houses away. The water board had to pump it out for five days until the blockage was finally identified and cleared. They had to use a camera to find it. It wasn't a very pleasant week. Hope yours isn’t going to be the same.

We had this when I was at uni, turned out someone has shoved a laptop in its case down our outside manhole drain in the back garden.

The dynorod guy took it out, had a look, got the powerlead , gave it a rinse off, asked if we wanted it, then put it in his van . The police came for the lappy.

Baring in mind this thing had probably been burried in @#~' for months.

Reminds me of when, on an Easter Monday around 5 years ago, a blocked drain overflowed into my porch. Cost me a fortune to get someone out to unblock the drain and then I spent several hours shovelling the **** out and then disinfecting the whole place. Still brings back nightmares but I'd rather that again than the bathroom. Unlucky.
