Utorrent 2k/bs download rate.

hia im getting really low download rate using utorrent. how can i sort this issue.

tried port forwarding but there isnt an option in my net gear settings.

yeh first post was brief, ISP is BT, router is NETGEAR super wireless ADSL router DG834GT

It depends on how many peers/seeders and leechers.

Also, it can take up to 5mins to reach full speeds.

its been 3hours 22 mins so far. gone up to 22 kb/s now.

back down to 2kb/s now

How many seeders/leechers does the torrent have?

Try at 1 am, do you have the green icon showing? Or is it red... Turn on upnp in utorrent and your router.

Test it on a ububtu torrent download

That's it. And I can back that up, since my parents are with BT, and after about 1pm my torrents speeds get throttled to 0kbps. Wait for after midnight, then the speeds ramps back up to full speed.

Throttling, I have similar speeds on AOL almost around the clock. I purchased a cheap (£3.99) Netherlands VPN and I now get full line speed.

Does the Torrent have a good amount of S & P's?
Whos your ISP?
The Network Icon in Utorrent, Green or Red?

I cleared a lot of the torrents I was seeding recently and it improved utorrent immensely. One file I'd been downloading suddenly went from 30 kb/s to 800 kb/s. Try just downloading the one file and don't have any seeding or anything - worth a try

The answer has already been given to OP. Only way to solve this is using a VPN.
