This is going to be my next TV sometime this year. 46" model will be perfect. First review in, just a stunning set! Dual core CPU to speed up the Smart TV stuff.

Looks like a good set...just a pity it happens to be a Samsung...got nothing but contempt for the brand.Very poor quality products,riddled with faults and all coupled to an appalling after sales service.Sure,they have all the bells and whistles,but inside lurks some seriously naff components,very second rate.I own a couple of their sets for bedroom use.After the salesman promising me a "breathtaking HD viewing experience" they have become the most disappointing tv's I've ever owned,not a patch on my Pioneer Kuro ,which I had the good sense to keep as our main screen.Sam wont be singin his song in my cinema room any time soon.

Never had any issues with Samsung, got 3 tv's from 32" to 40" for some years now.

As for customer service, my experience was excellent, they replaced two 24" monitors, which developed a fault. even though they were nearly two years old.

SPIT: That Samsung ES8000 looks gorgeous. wouldn't mind one, shame it's beyond my budget.:(

Very good update to the D8000 series I have an D8000 E46 myself. Some how i would be tempted to stick a bit of tape over the camara:D
It would make me paranoid if the tv was on my internet.

or just confused.

it looks ok apart from that stand, still wouldnt have led over plasma tho, cant be doing with the awfull bluhue you get and bluey balcks.

No blur on this TV and excellent contrast due to local dimming. Things have moved on.

For anyone who was interested in these sets, it seems that several places now have them in stock (or arriving) as it seems March 19th was the launch date.

The prices a bit eye-watering:

55" = £2499.99 inc VAT
40" = £1499.99 inc VAT

And still no where near as good as a Plasma, the only thing that could possibly take that crown is Oled.

It's not so clear cut any more - my last Panny plasma went back to the shop to be replaced by an LED and, for gaming at least, it performs better.

Bring on OLED so we no longer have to compromise!

To be quite honest, I'm not interested in the smart functions as I'd have it hooked up to my PC and consoles anyway - I just love the aesthetics, thinness of the panel and the (reputedly) excellent panel quality. I'm afraid the price is much more than I'm willing to pay at the moment.

I've just seen a review of a the Toshiba 46YL863 (link) , which seems to have excellent 2D panel performance and they reckon the price has dipped under £1000.

I think they'd have been better off with the spider stand of the 2011 D7000/D8000 sets for swiveling. Unless I'm wrong in thinking that stand can swivel?
