Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting a second Dell U2412M (probably going to order tomorrow) and I want to wall mount them side-by-side. I want them as close to the wall as possible.

I just wanted to check how would I do this? I've never wall mounted any monitor / TV before

I looked at the back of the monitor (I already have one) and I removed it from the stand and the four holes are recessed, they're not flush with the back of the monitor, I thought they had to be flush so the bracket can 'get to' the holes?

Anyone wall mounted a U2412M before?

The Dell site says VESA 100mm x 100mm (Wall mount sold separately). I don't need a special bracket from Dell do I?

Any other wall mounting tips/tricks are also welcome, such as how I would easily get them side by side, literally touching. I'm assuming it just takes careful measurement. (I know this will block the USB ports on one of the monitors)

Hope you can help, :D

Yea, the holes are recessed (under the stand connection) but this won't pose a problem so long as you get a VESA mount that is made specifically for the 100x100 size. There are mounts available which support 100x100 and larger sizes - these won't work unless you get spacers so it will sit correctly.

As for mounting two of them so they match, I would suggest you have a spirit level, a solid ruler, a tape measure and a pencil.

As for the USB ports, yes the monitor on the right will have two USB ports blocked, but bear in mind there are still two ports on the rear of the monitor (next to the video connections) which can still be used.

OK Thanks, so it is possible then. I didn't want to order the monitor then not be able to wall mount it. The site I'm ordering from says VESA and has a X next to it, but Dell website says it's possible

So would something like the Hama Action TV Wall bracket work? I think that's what you mean, but the mounting plate is 120 x 120 mm so I'm not sure?

Could you maybe send me the name of a suitable (reasonably priced) one that would work? Would really appreciate it :D

Yeah I think the two USB ports on the left screen will be enough anyway :)

Thanks :)

Edit: It may work - since the out holes are 100x100.

Though you may want to consider or something like the "Duronic PLB2820 Cantilever". Not only is this a good price and the right size, but the arm moves a bit - which will make getting the spacing between the monitors perfect much simpler.

I assume that I can have it setup as it is in this picture:

and when I screw them to the wall I could have it so that the left monitors bracket is to the left of the monitor rather than the center and vice versa for the right monitor, so that the monitors are still close to the wall? As in there would be no disadvantage of having the bracket/arm at that sort of angle?

Yes, you can have them like you mention - the only drawback is that you will be able to see the wall connection of the mounts, as they are normally hidden behind the monitor.

Another option would be to get the "Duronic PLB2518 Cantilever" which is a very similar mount, but allows you to fold the arm over itself so in this position it is very close to the wall.

Hmmm I didn't know how long the bracket is, so what you're saying is that you will see the bracket next to the screen?

I think that PLB2518 looks like a better option

Thanks for your help and keep any other ideas coming :D

Yea, the U2412M is 556mm wide, and the PLB2820 supposedly extends 250mm - so you may see a bit of the wall mounting plate poking out at the side of the monitors. It probably won't look too bad, but yea the PLB2518 would solve this and isn't much more expensive.

Thanks for your help, I will let you know what I end up buying :D

I ended up getting two brackets from a high street store earlier today (only £11.99 each) and they fit perfectly in the recess in the screen.

I got fixed ones so they are nice and close to the wall, the bracket is only about 1cm thick :D

2nd monitor should arrive monday :)

Thanks for your help, I'll let you know how I get on :D

Hi mate, wonder if you can help me?

I'm getting two u2412m's in a couple of weeks and want to wall mount them the same as yourself.
Your setup looks great form the photo and is the same as what I want for mine.

Couple of questions if I can?
The brackets you ended up getting from the high street, can I ask what they were and where you got them?
If I can get them much cheapness that's good - hit teh credit card enough getting the monitors!
(feel free to email in trust if you like, or just say here if its ok!)

Also, with the panels flat along the wall, do you find any problems working between two monitors this way as compared to angling them in slightly towards you?

Thanks.
Gaz.

Got it all done today, here's a pic

Let me know what you think :D
Your desk is very deep don't you find your now to far away from your monitors ?? (looks about 90cm/3 feet deep)

I have my U2410 wallmounted the same but my desk is only 60cm (2 feet) deep..

Glad you like it :)

I will send you a trust message with the details of the bracket, I don't think OcUK sell VESA brackets so I don't think I will break any rules by posting it here, but best to be safe.

About your last question, I had them sitting on the desk (on their stands) for about a week before I wall mounted them, and even though I had the option to angle them in, I still had them straight along the back of the desk as that is how I like it. I don't find any problems with it.

Any more questions feel free to ask :)

The desk is 80cm deep, your guess what pretty good :p

I find it OK, I don't like the monitor being too close to me, especially if it is quite large and especially if there is two next to each other, I like to be at a reasonable distance away

It's personal preference I guess :)

Ah..
So even with the brackets attaching the monitors on the wall you still the option to angle them in/out?

No, you lose that option, what I'm saying is that even if I had the option (like when I had them on the desk), I would still have them flat/straight as that is how I like it.

You can get adjustable brackets though like what cmndr_andi has suggested above but then the monitors will be further away from the wall.

With the brackets that I have the monitors are only about 1cm away from the wall, I wanted them close to the wall that is why I got fixed brackets

:)

ah right, cool.

Currently my dual monitors (24" and 20" TN panels) are sitting on a shelf on my desk against the back wall.
Will try the new Dells like that for a while see what I think first.)

thanks!
