which one guys, the 3930k is a trooper but costs a bomb, the 3820 seems respectable but isnt that much diff to my previous 950 according to anandtech

what ido really does stress the cpu, hell evenif i had dual xeons it would still stress them, so, cpu power is a must, so im not exactly looking for best bang for buck, a la 2500k i am steered more towards x79, but, i just dont know which one :(

i have 2k at hand so money isnt the issue, but gladly ive got some common sense :P i dontmind paying for performance but i dont want to pay for a premium, i guess 3930k is as close as it gets

3930k and a decent water cooling setup, my fans are sat around 600-700rpm even at 100% load, powerfull and quiet :D

3930k or 2700K, the 3930K has potentially 25-40% better performance, but could be less.

The i7-3820 has a very small advantage over the 2700k, bar a few very specific tasks. So not really worth looking at unless you know for a fact it will run faster with the tasks you do.

Has anyone thought to ask what the OP is going to be doing with his PC? It's all well and good having the money to buy an exotic CPU but if you are just gaming / surfing the net, there's little point in wasting money.

No one has asked specifically but the OP did indicate his requirements:

i do a lot of video and audio production, most of my time im rendering, or its rendering in thebackground. i want to work with a samplerate of 192,000khz, on my previous x58 950 @ 88,000khz id get cpu usage at 65% and it had a slight overclock, so for my needs i generally need something twice as fast as the 950 at stock

3930k is as close as you will get in that case. They generally overclock between 4.0 and 4.6ghz.

Noctua NH D14 or Corsair H100 will do fine on a 3930K @ 4.6/4.8GHz.

I might have said this before in this thread/or another similar,

but mine is at 4.7 and temps top out at 70 with IBT, 75 if things get really warm, havent seen it above 55/60 in anything else (games/encoding),

H100 can be loud tho, so get yaself some nice headphones/speakers lol
