I am thinking to upgrade my stock cooler to Cooler Master Hyper 212, been "cooking" 3.2 Ghz i7 920 for far to long with stock cooler.
Im thinking to push it to 3.8 Ghz with new cooler, ohh yeah to the point.

I have Akasa 450 thermal paste laying around is it any good or should i buy better for the occasion.

never overclock on a stock cooler... bad things will happen in the night to you if you do...

i would get some arctic mx-4 or similar

Thnx.

I read u can OC on stock cooler been running more than a 2 years now.

you can but they are not very good at it.

what you need is a tower cooler like the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2

the hyper 212 vs a stock cooler is a large gap. The hyper 212 will be at least 20% cooler, if not more than the stock cooler.

overclocking on a stock cooler can be done, but only to a certain extent... push it too far and you can cause damage to CPU and/or limit it's lifespan due to the amount of heat it is operating under.

get the 212... great cooler!

i bought Gelid Tranquillo Rev 2. after i saw it recommended here on the forums.

And yes i i haven't OC on stock cooler more than 3.2 Ghz i7 920
Bought the new cooler mostly because it seems to be easier to clean.
