Anybody have experience of EVGA's 10 year graphics card warranty?

Do they have a lot of get out clause that means its very hard to claim anyway?

Thinking of choosing EVGA for my next brand as I seem to have terrible luck with graphics card dying after 2.5yrs.

I suppose graphics card is one of the more delicate part that is always pushing the edge of component tolerance.

Whats the average life of a graphics card for you before it starting glitching?
 
Unless I'm missing something I don't see where all these 10 year warranties are coming from.

Most of the products seem to have KR in the product code and according to EVGA:

All -KR products purchased ON or AFTER January 1st, 2011 include a 3 year limited warranty from the date of purchase. Registration is recommended. Optional Extended Warranty and Step-Up™ eligibility are offered for purchase upon product registration of a -KR part number within 30 days of the purchase date.

You only seem to get a 5 or 10 year warranty by paying extra.

Presumably only if you get one with an ER part number or pay the extra on a KR.

It's not a huge amount of money to upgrade to a 5 year or 10 year warranty but most people probably don't keep cards beyond 3 years and, as the extended warranty is non-transferrable, EVGA probably don't get a huge number of claims.

^This. 5 years seems the best extended warranty term, 10 years more of a gimmick then anything else.
 
I'm trying to think what gpu I owned ten years ago...GeForce 4 Ti maybe? I can't remember but whatever it was I don't think it will play battlefield 3 on ultra very well :/
 
My mum still has Pentium2 400 IBM with Voodoo2 - everything still works like clockwork, only HD was replaced :)

On topic, I thought I saw EVGA promise lifetime warranty, but only in USA.
 
I had a Geforce 2 MX. The worst crappiest GPU I have ever had.

So much for all of their bravado about 3DFX being crap. That MX was the only GPU I've ever had that could do artefacts before overclocking a GPU existed.

no, very easy. just remember to register within 30 days!

I've got **** luck too. EVGA or Gigabyte are some of the best brands to buy from. Both their CS's are amazing with great RMA turnaround time.

Costs 30 euros IIRC to extend from 3-10 yrs

Most of their reference cards are ER
 
Am I missing something here? Whats to stop somebody delibrately overvolting or overheating their card when they fancy a new card from EVGA?

If their current card is so old that there is no direct replacement, EVGA would be force to give them the current low end card which would still be a "better" than their old card.

And how does the step-up program work in the UK? Or does that only apply to the US?

you send your card in, pay the extra for the next one up

I've bought an EVGA GTX-570 today (with the model KR), and in the description on OC that it includes 10 years warranty when registered. Just registered it, with no sign of the 10 years, and when contacting them, they state that it is not valid on those models of cards, and if I am to want the extended warranty I will have to pay.

I know the payment wouldn't be a lot, but I do feel a bit cheated and the statement on the item page needs to be amended to reflect this. One of the reasons for purchasing the EVGA card was because of this extended warranty which I thought was included.

You can return it to OcUK then.

The item was not as described.
