Call of DutyModern Warfare3 - Free Weekend Coming, Pre-load Now!

I found it fun for the first few games but after that it just got grindning and seemed like a DLC.

I get the feeling they intentionally gimped it to make a case for then flogging DLC later :S the DLC about to be released sounds like it has a fair bit of extra content but that probably just means they are gonna charge a fortune for it.

I played it for about 90 minutes or so on thursday night and cant say i was impressed. Most of the games i found myself on were full of aimbots or other hacks. The ones which wernt spoiled by that were spoiled by constant flashbank/concusion grenade spammage. I uninstalled and counted myself lucky i bought bf3 and not this steam of pap :P

Thanks for the heads up though, was nice to atleast try it ^^

Yea i think it happens a lot less in bf3, at the very least it doesnt impact my enjoyment of the game too much. plus there are quite a few servers with admins on them to kick anyone who is. Bf3 sure isnt without its faults, but now i have a new perspective on it :P

I didn't think this was a bad game at all.

Gameplay is solid, I had no idea there were no dedicated servers, why did they put them in black ops then decide to take them out again for this? Beats me.

Yeah lots of hacking and probably even worse with the free weekend :( not noticed much grenade/flashbank spammage tho.

Black Ops is a fork of an older version of the engine, this fork never had dedicated servers originally (functionality was gutted when they moved from the COD4 version of the engine) tho I think they are in there for MW3 just don't work with the public ranked gaming system which is player hosted lobbies only.

Converted. Actually impressed with how fluid the game is and the matchmaking works nicely. Happy to finally have a fast shooter for a change of pace from TF2 and RO2.

Not experienced any noobtubing, and almost zero claymore/mine type stuff. Perks are much more nicely balanced than before.

Wish i'd just got this instead of BF3.

As to the "omg full of hackers" comments, I doubt it. Getting 24-4 in this game gets you branded a cheater immediately, and i've been accused in nearly every match i've played this weekend. It's hardly a difficult game to pub stomp in.

I appreciated the free weekend but it hasn't changed my opinion that it's a mediocre fourth copy of a legendary shooter (COD4) made to cash in cheaply.

This tbh. Still expensive, but I'll get a lot of hours out of the MP, and still want to do the SP and co-op. It does feel like a big map pack at first, but they've mixed it up enough for me.

Black ops is made by Treyarch, the MW series is Infinity Ward (always better games imo).

It's never affected gameplay for me really. Sure it's never going to build communities without servers. But I like the idea of joining matchmaking with a group of friends and getting a fresh set of opponents every few rounds. P2P has always been more than fine for physically playing the game, which some PC gamers can't seem to wrap their heads around.

I played up to rank 40ish over the whole weekend, and only came across one game with a definite hacker. As Swi1ch says though, there's tons of people raging about it though. Had a couple of ~35-5, 30-10 scores and people crying all over the place. Thanks to the radar, UAV and all that it's a game where you can feel cheated if you're being pounded into the ground by a better player.

I still don't see how people can compare this to Battlefield 3 sensibly. It's like comparing Quake 3 and Counter Strike. Completely different styles of play.

I played a few hours and enjoyed killing all the noobs sat in a corner crying about how many hackers there are.

They still dont understand UAV and a decent headset and an ounce of game sense = win.

There were more cheaters than usual though about 1 in 5 games had in my opinion some kind of wall hacking and 1 in 10 had a retard with a headshot bot.

Hopefully back to normal now.

How is BF3 now any major changes? I stopped playing at the end of the Year and then i was starting to see the odd cheat here and there but not as rampant as in MW3.

BF3 and MW3 are very different, stop comparing them. CoD is kind of unique in its field in terms of play speed and its ease of use controls. Some people like it, some don't. The only thing we'll all agree on is the amount of hackers on the PC version. Almost every Ground War has one or two aimbotters, some of the other game types have wall hackers quite often, too.

If you REALLY want to annoy people in this game, take specialist for your strike package. On 2, 4 and 6 kills you get a new perk, and on 8 you get all the perks, the pro version as well if you unlocked it.

You can also take hardline as a primary perk, which means you gain new perks on 1, 2 and 3 kills, with all perks on 4 kills. Because I didn't want to compromise my primary perks I take hardline as the first unlock on my kill streak, but it's still pretty funny/awesome to make 5 kills and suddenly become Superman.
