I have a streetlight near my property that is quite bright from the bedroom window. I have blinds so it doesn't really stop me from sleeping but the light bleed is a bit unsightly.

Do I have any chance of getting the council to rectify this, and has anyone had any success in a similar situation?

Cheers!

Climb up it and grab the light sensor off the top, I've seen it done many years ago! :D

Hrm that probably qualifies as vandalism so I think I'll just fire a mail off and hope for the best! I wish they'd do what Surrey County Council did and replace all the lights with the more focused, energy efficient ones!

I used to be a Street lighting designer.

You can petition your council to get a Louvre fitted to the back of the light (a lump of angled metal or plastic behind the lamp head) which can be adjusted to minimise the light pollution.

I used to get a server telling off if I ever designed a lighting system that had lights in trees/foliage or directly outside someones bedroom window!... its really annoying when I see this done all over the place!!..
