Hi all,

I am mid way through my rig build at the moment, I have the below spec, the board started off a sort of blue theme as there is some blue heatsinks on there, then I added a watercooling loop, to which I have gone for blue die.

The EK waterblock I have is clear plexi.

However I am not sure what colour to have the lighting (I have never been the one at mixing good colours that work.

If I added blue cold cathodes, will the whole thing look too blue??

Shall I go for a white cold cathode set to light up the inside of the case a bit? will the blue water still look good?

If not, any suggestions?

You've got two choices here, either white or blue - unless you're planning on UV reactant fluid and heatshrink...

Anyway, yeah, I'd probably go with blue fans (if you're going to use LED fans), and then after having that all installed I'd build it all up, then afterwards I'd probably see what I thought about Cold Cathodes and how much blue was there... I'd probably go for white personally.

OK, I might go for White Fans first and see how things go :)

I fear if I went with Blue, it will be too much

So black brushed alu case, thinking of carbon fibre the inside where I can get to, white LED fans, some blue heatsinks that were on my motherboard, blue die in watercooling loop.

I say go with white. Don't buy all your fans/cathodes etc at once. Buy one fan to see how it looks and if you are satisfied purchase the rest. Oh and make sure you have plenty of pics!

Will be :) I do have some pics of me installing the waterloop on my new rig, but I think I am going to do some fresh pics in the Project log section and add to it, my nee 650D is arriving tomorrow :)

Also, can anyone reccomend me some fans that are quiet, brilliantly white, and not too pricey

I need a 200mm fan at the front, then I will be having a 240mm rad at the top, so need some good 120mm fans.

i went with led strip lighting, 200 leds per metre 12v low heat flexible can be bought in various lenghts also and led density connect thru a swith to a molex easy jobs ten minutes work effective colorful and you can switch it on and off, i had cols cathodes before and i dont think they are anywhere as effective as leds

Also can anyone reccomend some bright and silent white LED fans?

Ah, you went with the 650D in the end :) Good choice :)

I think for you, Bitfenix Spectres might be an idea. I think they do quite a few sizes (including the front of the 650D size), and pretty sure they do white.

I have a look but can't find them, they do do (do do lol) some white LED strips though, which I will be having.

If I am completely missing the white LED fans though, could you hook me up with a link from OcUK? cant see them from where I am looking

Ah, are these the ones?

I have also been looking at Akasa AK-FN055 Quiet Pearl White 120mm Fan

But wanted to see if there was anything else

i went for some from a car led supplier the type that people put under the sills and hook up to 12v a meter was about £10 some you can trim and cut to whatever length you like also i just wound them in and around my case base and up one corner attached them with sticky pads more density of led gives brighter light less density the opposite ofc but you can by them in lots of lenghts

Yeah, I think their LED strips are quite good :)

Yeah, I meant those spectres. To be honest, it may be worth just looking at quite a few of them around. All you really need to look at is Size, CFM, and Noise :)

Just got two of the Xigmatek white 120mm to see how it goes, its rated at <20db with the best airflow out of the lot. Will be a lot quieter than what I am used to at the moment, 28db my current fans are on low I think

Yeah, they're pretty good, I remember the 140mm, being relatively quiet when I tested them, but that was over a year ago now, so it might be that I wasn't used to quietness then. I know for a fact they were louder than my Enermax T.B. Silence, but they may well have been quieter than my PSU. Can't quite remember.
