How long did you drive your first car for?

My first car was a Fiat Cinquecento with a 0.9l engine. Yes, that's right. Eight hundred and ninety-nine cubic centimetres of four cylinder fury. Power output? A healthy 39 raging Italian stallions. Fast? Like you wouldn't believe.

Had it for a year or so. :)

Hyundai Pony 1.5 GLS. Owned it for 4.5 years before rust got hold of it and meant it needed attention before its next MOT, I was ready for a change anyway by that point.

Replaced it with a 306 1.4 XR which I kept for just under three years.

1983 Fiat Panda Fire, no that isn't what happened it's the model name. I had it about a year then I tore a hole in the bulkhead when a garage fitted the incorrect clutch cable. They couldn't fix it so they gave me their 1.4 Diesel Citroen AX 'loaner'.

First car I owned was a mk2 MR2. I sold it a year later and bought the MR2 turbo that I have now. The cost to change was not much at all and the turbo it is a much better car.

I've currently got a similarly engined Seicento as my first car, which is basically just a Cinq in a heavier party dress.

It was quite a shock going from the 2011 Fiesta I learnt in to a car that was 10 years older but I'm getting quite attached to it now. Will probably keep it for a year whilst I pay off what little credit card debt I have and save a couple of grand deposit on something newer.

1982 polo CL 1.0 4 speed

cost me 200 in 2001 drove it for a a year or so did a lot of miles dropped it off at the scrap heap as it would cost far more than it was worth to get through an MOT, shame cus the engine was in good condition was just falling apart else where.

Still got my first car (Fiat Seicento SX in all her 899cc glory) after....11 and a bit years.

About 6 months, a cement truck crashed into it on the way home from failing an MOT. It was a Metro 1.1 litre.

How I evilly laughed and grinned as the insurance payout was more than what I bought the car for, I kept it as salvage and sold it for £100 to some local too.

Best experience ever!

Kept my first car which was a Fiest 1.25 Zetec for just under 5 years, think I bought it around £2000 for 2.5k. It was a brilliant first car, the ITR that replaced it was even better though.

3 years, then I wrote it off :D

Still got my second car - coming up to 12 years now

Original "F reg" (1968?) Hillman Hunter

Blew the planetary gears in the diff being a **** (wheel spins) .. Got that fixed

Put a rod through the side of the engine... cue 1725 GT engine and box from Seaton Scrappy

Kept it about 6 months before deciding that Chrysler made "soft" engines ( Not that I was a prat and thrashed into scrap a car that was a banger in the first place) and then Got a Vauxhall Ventura 3.3litre.

Petrol was cheap back then !!

Ford Escort mk3 C reg, had it for 4 months, £1100 third party insurance on an £800 car back in 1996. Wrote it off driving in to the back of a Fiat Uno. Not a scratch on the Uno, my front end caved in. They still claimed off me, been paying the price for insurance ever since.
