How long did you drive your first car for?

No, you're not?

3-5 years post-event you have to declare

Sorry i didn't clarify quite as good as I should have. I meant that after that incident I had to get a turd of a car because I lost a car from the accident and I was broke, so I got the new car on finance, the insurance was sky high for years and that lead me to my awful financial situation that I had back then.

I'm all good now, but now I live in a CR postcode so still paying stupid money, if I had a car that is.

Clio facelift model, 3 years. Still running it. Don't think it holds much value, be lucky to get one and a half grand for it these days I reckon. Might just keep it until my GF gets a licence and pass it on! Weirdly, I got it the same month we had our first date!

I had mine from September 2009 to May 2010, got rid as MOT was coming up and it was a massive money pit, lesson learned there. Plus it was horrendously slow, driving 40 miles each way down the A50 every day was no fun at all when I needed a good run up to overtake a lorry.
£500 Peugeot 306 1.9D by the way, in turquoise with moon mileage - you probably remember it 5UB, it was the brightest thing in the car park for a good while :p sold it to some shifty looking guys for £400 which was quite an achievement as the electrics were all wonky, the clutch was as heavy as a heavy thing and it was, well, bright turquoise.

1988 2.8 V6 Granada, was 9 years old, got it with 95k on it and I killed it at 120k, because I caned the life out of it every mile I drove it.

(approx 1993) Had a Mk1 Beige Fiesta 957cc as my first car for about 2 years. Engine died horribly after about 18 monoths and was replaced with a 1.1 from a donor car. sold to my brother after buying a 1.6L Crapi when heading off the Uni :D

1973 Austin allegro in white kept for a year and upgraded to a talbot solara lol.

Mine was "Harvest Gold" - inherited it from my brother in '84

Had it about 2 years - square steering wheel for the win , then upgraded to a Talbot Sunbeam 1.3 (first rear-wheel car! )

1983 Escort Mk3 Ghia 1.3.

I ran out of talent with it, about 3 weeks after bying it.

I'd crashed my Mums XR2 prior to that also..... :o

2000 MK1 Focus 2.0l Ghia Petrol

Feb 2005 > Feb 2012

Fancied replacing it for a while but couldn't justify it to myself until it developed a number of problems.

1996 Rover 1.4 - drove it for 2 years then replaced with a 2002 VW Polo (1 owner, only 24,000 on the clock) which only cost £300 as a family favour.

2002 Pug 206 2.0hdi 90bhp I think. I thought it was fast at the time, it was certainly very economical! had it for 18 months iirc, sold it for a Volvo v70 2.4 petrol 170bhp

Had a beast of a 1.2 corsa sxi as my first car, kept it for 3 years then got something faster.

About 6 months, a cement truck crashed into it on the way home from failing an MOT. It was a Metro 1.1 litre.

How I evilly laughed and grinned as the insurance payout was more than what I bought the car for, I kept it as salvage and sold it for £100 to some local too.

Best experience ever!

I thought you sold it to a dealer?

First car was a 2001(51) Honda Civic 1.6 Se Vtec EP2
Bought at auction and owned it for 2 years; absolutely no problems with it and nothing went wrong either

Changed because I have a short attention span and after getting some NCB I could afford to insure a car I really wanted - So I got something faster.
Had my Celica GT4 ST205 for 11 Months now and very happy with it.

About 2 years I think, 1.9D 309 in delightful beige - eventually I think the clutch or gearbox blew up and my brother was just about to turn 17 so we ended up with an equally peachy Renault 19 that lasted a surprisingly long time about 4-5 years I think.

That said though I consider my current car my first 'proper' car (2002 Cadillac Deville) (as in bought and paid for & insured by myself) - had it just over a year and 26k miles and it's been ideal for freeway mile munching :p \

Getting well acquainted with it too having done the pads & rotors, water pump and spark plugs so far - my plan is if I can get 50k miles out of it without any major expense then I'll consider that 'break-even' and anything after that is a bonus.

I was 17 in 1992. Just after my birthday I got a yellow W-reg mk1 VW Golf Driver with Karmann interior. It sat in my drive for 3 months until I passed my test, and lasted maybe 6 months after, whereupon it was crashed by a friend . About a year later I got a Peugeot 309 xsi.

1995 Peugeot 306 XS. With the funky immobilizer key pad. 6969 was the code. :D Only kept her 7 months. Was in good condition till I reversed it into a low bollard and ended up scrapping it.
