Learner drivers on the motorway

I personally think its a great idea mainly for females if I can say that without being sexist!

For some reason a lot of the females I know are terrified of motorways. A lot of this is down to not knowing which lane to be in and just a fear of lots of cars driving close to eaxh other at high speeds. would make sense for the first time on a motorway for nervous drivers to be under supervison

I got to drive on sheffield parkway during my lessons which is fairly motorway like, my instructor used to always tell me to drop down to third and floor it in order to be sure i was matching the speed of the traffic, i can see most learners attempting to join at 30mph though.

Not just learners, it seems all the rage these days to join at a dangerous slow speed.

If they want to improve driver training (which I don't think we need at all), then why not take a leaf out of motorbike testing. First test L plates still needed, no motorway, no passengers. Year later second test.Nthat way people can still get to work and have independence etc.
But trouble is the entire driving population has "low" standards, what we need is effective policing on all driving skills, not just speed.

Or at least green p-plates Untill they've complete 2hours of motorway training. Or something.

I was thinking of a similar process. Pass an initial test as is now and then have a secondary set of lessons similar to Pass Plus and test to get a full driving licence.

I don't see what the big deal is, motorways are the same as some A roads anyway, never even thought about it when I had just passed, just got on the m25 and went
