Opinion wanted - what is a soul mate?

Hi all

I'm looking for people's opinions on what a soul mate is exactly? I'm just looking for very general opinions and ideas.

It's just another way to say someone who you want to spend your life with at that particular time.

I suppose if you were religious, you could have a deeper definition but as someone who doesn't believe in a soul or a greater power I think it's just a simple and nice way to say that someone is the most important person to you and someone you want to live your life with forever.
 
Someone you are completely compatible with both in personality and sexuality that you are very happy to spend your life with.

The person who not only shows you the light in life, but embodies that light within themselves.......Ultimately you are two parts of the same whole, you find that person and neither of you will ever face anything alone, your problem is their problem and vice versa, and it is the most natural thing in the world....you no longer think "I" your default position is "We".

That is having a soul-mate and some of us are lucky enough to have found theirs.

Someone who meets all the following needs:

Sexual
Emotional
Intellectual
Spiritual

Many people have successful happy relationships if at least 2 are met - the other needs are met by close friendships (hopefully not the sexual one!) but a true soulmate ticks all the boxes & apparently is very, very, rare.

Just what I read somewhere! :)
 
It's your best same sex mate who will listen to all your crap and satisfy you sexually but not in a gay way.
That's what my soul mate does.

Agreed, you can love someone and spend your life with them and be very happy. Soulmate is something more. IMO the reason they are so rare is they dude mentally change your thinking, through brain structure chemicals and what not. Nothing to back this up, just opinion. So you can only ever find one, as after that you become incompatable.

Try tell them that, they'll make up all and every excuse to prove you wrong.
Which in turn proves the whole thing is just something people say to make it sound more than it is.

Then they split up.

In certain spiritual, philosophical, and psychological traditions it is the incorporeal essence of a person, living thing, or object, mate.
