Tarot card experience

Ok to give you some idea of the background to my point I'll try and briefly describe what the tarot is (it's pyhsical rules not it's mystical implications)

It's is a deck of cards mostly like any other deck of cards suites, numbers, royal cards.

It differs from your standard playing cards because of an additional 22 cards refered to as the 'major arcana'

Now the basics on how significance is arrived at

Each suite has a meaning (of the top of my head coins is money though it's years since I studied)

Also each number or royal card has a conistant meaning (3 thought to be good 9 not for example ) though this isn't a simple 1 bad .......... King great scale

So 3 of coins = good money event

The last 22 cards are also assigned meanings though each of theres is unique, considered of greater signifcance than 'normal' cards and may describe an event, a transiton, an entity and possibly other things dependant upon placement.

Finally to placement - Each 'node' in a reading represents a diffrent aspest, time frame, entity in your life.

A simple example would be a 3 card spread, past, present and future.

To give you an example of how a spread would work (using 3 and 9 of coins plus ace of coins, ace being an excellent omen)

First card (past) 9 of coins

Second card (present) Ace of coins

Third card (future) 3 of coins

Reading - You have had a bad time financially, now is a good time for you because you can see this and the way out is near, you will make good decisons about you finanial future shortly.


So there you go now you might understand my point.

My point is that life is incredibaly complex and people have many mixed feelings about diffrent aspects of there lives.

I can pull a card read it and say.... You regreted some action in your past relationship

I can not pull a card and say the same thing ! is it anymore or less true.

You will see yourself in a reading because every aspect possibly described by the Tarot and probably more will be present in your life, it's just focuses your thoughts to think upon it if anything.

/feels embaressed as ninja posting suggest I'm a **** for knowing this :(

I had a tarot reading, done by a friend, once, too... it said that I and a girl I liked and who liked me would get it on... ooooh! the surprise of that one. It was like the planets aligned and the very gods themselves had ordained the mystic knowledge of our joining since before the beginning of time!

The same friend did a reading for the girl in question too.

Would you hazard a wild flaming guess as to what hers said? :p

Yeah man, I completely understand what you're saying. I was lolling hard when most people got theirs done, as it could have applied to anyone, and people were taking experiences in their lives and claiming these were a manifestation of the readings, which was BS.

Mine was different though, as it was highly specific. It still came about by pure coincidence but it was interesting that so much detail could be extracted and that this detail is highly consistent with my life. As I said, I still feel it's a load of rubbish but it was quite cool all the same.

Yeah I suppose it was. That probably explains how it could appear to be so specific and tailored to me while most other peoples' were very vague.

You could do with watching some of the Penn & Teller BS series or old James Randi stuff.
There are people who have swore on their life that they never told the psychic anything and when video is played back it was said.
I've attended psychic shows in the 80s and because I'm a sceptic I've wrote things down on a notepad as they happened and you'll be truly amazed at what people don't know they say.
People like Derren Brown do this stuff but admit they are people reading/listening.
 
Although I really dislike people claiming they have "powers" I do find the whole process impressive if it's done well. How they are able to express very generic and sometimes conflicting statements about people in such a convincing and seemingly personal way is quite a skill.

My mum had something similar once. Apparently, this 'medium' predicted that my mother's father was dead and that he had given a gold watch to his grandson.

That grandson was me, and i do have that watch! :eek:
 
I reckon that the 2 girls and the card reader got together and scripted the story for you OP before your reading. They just added a few of your other mates to make yours sound more realistic in comparison.

That also applies to me and I bet quite a few others on this forum.
 
If anyone wants to read a great book on cold reading, check out The Full Facts Book of Cold Reading by Ian Rowland. It's superb.
