in yesterday's Times newspaper (21 feb) the cartoon showed president of iran next to a petrol pump, with 2 hoses from the pump on each side of his belt which he was holding and about to remove as if they were guns in his belt.

In front of him was a tornado jet with flag of america and israel on its tail with all its weapons on the wings, the pilot staring at the president. A speech bubble from the president said "Draw"

I did not understand this cartoon. Anyone able to explain it?

thanks

that does not answer my question

Iran both produces a lot of oil and can easily chocke the supply route for the other oil producing states. Hence America/Israel on one side with bombs and **** and on the other Iran has the oil. It's a nasty stalemate.

The comic was about the standoff between Israel USA and Iran over their attempts to make nuclear weapons. Israel has previously said it will bomb Iran if they continue to develop nuclear weapons if they do Iran will more than likely cut off the oil supply to the USA/west with disastrous consequences for the global economy

I must say that cartoonist in the Times does some subtle but great toons! always makes me chuckle, though maybe not in this case!

Maybe read all the long words in the paper instead of just looking at the cartoons ?

I understood it and I'm not the slightest bit interested

I'm confused.

i don't like people who don't find broadsheet newspapers interesting - and yes, peter brookes has done some great cartoons in the Times. Morland is not as good and Steve Bell in the Guardian is often good.

Really? Seeing as so many countries have been massively scaling down any kind of trade or transactions with Iran in recent years, I'd have thought that it'd be painful but not "disastrous"?
