Hard to believe I am writing this still a bit in shock.

Cut a long story short I had a big operation on my foot to have it fused (screwed) to my ankle. This time it was on my right foot I had my left done a few years back. I have been walking about 6 weeks after being in plaster for 3 months.

I got the go ahead to start driving so I started this week. Popped down the local post office in the car and returned back home. Got out, locked it and started to walk back in then remembered I forgot the receipt so returned to the car and got in the drivers seat. Found the receipt and got half way out when the car parked about a car length in front suddenly reversed back at speed smashing the front of my car pushing it back. My right foot got jammed between the front wheel and the kerb then the open drivers door hit me throwing me about 6 feet.

Can believe it, been driving 20 years without incident, the first one I have I get run down by my own car. After a day in hospital I am back in plaster, my neck and back are sprained and I am covered in bruises on my back and arms (one from the door, the other from hitting the floor).

Both cars survived very well but I took the brunt. Police made me laugh though, as I was being loaded into the ambulance they noted to me next time I should look before leaving my vehicle. Can't believe I was parked in a bay, I didn't expect a car a good 15-20 feet away would fly back and hit mine.

That sounds pretty nasty, did it actually break anything in your foot? Did the driver of the other car explain why he reversed back so quickly?

So, person parked in front of you reversed into your car, knocking it backwards into you as you were getting out?

(it's early and my brain isn't working!)

That is exactly it. Wouldn't have been half as humiliating if I had got knocked down by that car but it was the embarrassment of my own car inflicting the injuries.

The person who was driving has a bit of a notorious record were I live for driving and reversing without looking. It is hard to judge but it did seem like they were going some when it hit my car. It was a bit like slow motion.

I see the jokes now guys sorry, was late and I was on pain relief, lol.

I don't normally encourage it, but.....
Take them and claim for every penny you possibly possibly can, you want your car repairing at a dealer not a 3rd party garage and really hang off the fact that your foot was only just starting to mend and they have caused immense damage and pain to you.

It sounds quite embarrassing being hit by your own car but having your own car pushed against you pinning you to a kerb sounds better.

I'm sure this person looks forwards when they drive forwards, so why not back when they reverse?

ring one of them no win no fee places. i would be right ****ed off it i was in your shoes especially while still recovering from your previous foot/ankle problem!
