Why all this 'I could have died' stuff? You didn't die. Infact you were not even badly injured if you discharged after a few hours.

By all means claim your loss of earnings as this is only fair but drop the ooh I nearly died rubbish.

Indeed! Although it may be easier to have a word with work and ask for full pay until you're better? It's be cheaper and easier for you both I would've thought.

TW Fox: You can still die from the effects of electric shock(ventricular fibrillation) hours, maybe even days later from what I was told by doctor, can really screw up your ticker.

I can still die weeks after this accident, it can potentially fluff up my heart. Just because I came out of hospital same day does not mean anything.

I dont mean to sound callous, but dont worry yourself too much about possible side effects, i work with elecs and everyone i work with gets loads of belts, non rcd protected, from the meter tails, even from the cutouts and they cannot even report it or get medical help they have to just keep working cos the company would Discipline or fire anyone who gets a shock. No one i know so far has even had a day off sick due to it let alone any health problems.

You did the right thing getting ECG and all, so try not to worry too much now

What's that got to do with the price of fish? Do you change light bulbs at home without first flicking the switch to off? Presumably you just get an electrician to do it

You may think its funny but where i work we are all qualified sparks and the company H&S say we are supposed to isolate the circuit at the fuse box before changing a bulb!

Man up and get on with life, you could die tomorrow from anything. You had a shock and was released fine from hospital all clear. Make sure you follow it up with an accident report and be more carefully around Electrics in the future.

Shocking story, gave me quite a jolt reading it.

I dont know what the current procedure is personally, but expect a lot of resistance. Try to go with someone who wont charge you.

Very good!

Sort of agree with this, but we don't know the prolonged effects. However, sueing for the sake of it seems ridiculous, for loss of earnings, I think it's entirely reasonable.

If the company were any good they would offer to pay you full pay whilst off sick. What has the company told you?

Ultimately, you need to seek professional legal advice - no one here can really offer you the right path to go down.

I have had 2 mains shocks and never had all this drama. That was 20 years ago and I am still here. I think you have already spent the compo in your head.

Just get over it and be thankful you have had a life experience that will help you be more careful in the future.

Why are people saying "but you didn't die" - you don't have to die to sue - the fact his life was put in serious danger due to negligence & he could have very nearly died is in my opinion sufficient grounds to sue.

It's not like he was standing on a table at work while dancing like a fool & fell off then he tried to sue the company - it's unfair to tarnish genuine cases just because "some people sue for stupid stuff" - get some perspective.

If the company I work for put my life in serious danger due to neglect I'd bloody well make sure they learned from the error.

I nearly died on the way into work this morning, i was about 3 ft away from around 100 head on collisions, i've got no idea how i made it into work.

How do i claim?

Grow a pair, man up and accept that accidents happen........

I see.

So if you got run over by someone who was drunk at the wheel and didn't die, you would oh would just think "meh it's ok I didnt die"

Due to someone not doing his job correctly, I had a shock. If I wasn't as fit and healthy or young as I am, this may have turned out different. Thankfully it hasn't, but just to think ok that's fine and carry on is ridiculous.

If you was to buy a TV from somewhere and it wasn't wired up properly, and blew up when you installed it, would you complain or just accept it?
