Mick McCarthy - FIRED!

Apparently Sky Sports are saying it's Poyet? This is only what I read from someone else who cares, I don't have it myself to see.

AHAHAHAHA! That could be the funniest appointment of all time! He's an idiot, a rubbish manager and will be good to watch him struggle... (but will be funny to see in interviews)

It sounds like every manager has heard the stories off Mick about being undermined, demanded in their contracts that the chairman at all costs does not do it again and caused every manager to walk away...

That or the line is keep us up or OUT! Which is just as useless

Especially as they (sadly) look to be one of the worst 3 teams in the league, as much as I like Wolves as an underdog team my money would be on them, QPR & Wigan to go down.

Sacking Mick seems like poor judgement brought on by panic to me, I guess they're hoping the players will get new manager syndrome and turn their season around.

It's a sacking out of desperation as all the cards possible (out side of making sensible buys or rebuilding the squad in jan) have been played (plus several cards no football club wants to play). New manager syndrome can't save teams in this situation (though I have QPR to have the excess levels of luck to stay up over Blackburn)

I don't want wolves to go down (them and west brom are the birmingham teams I like) but it'll do them the world of good to sort out the lack of harmony between the board, management and team as that is a recipe for disaster!

McD's apparently signed a new contract to keep him at Reading, and odds on Bruce taking the job have dropped like a rock.

The BBC are reporting that Wolves failed in a 2nd attempt to persuade Curbishley to take the job:

As I said before, you've got to wonder why Curbishley doesn't want the job now having earlier said he'd be very interested in it. I can only think that Curbishley wants some sort of guarantees regarding financial backing if they were to get relegated, to make sure they get promoted straight back up.

a mate who's a wolves fan reckons its something to do with him wanting to bring in his own backroom staff, and the board seem to prefer sticking with what they have, at least for the short term until the seasons finished, guess it might be to do with the financial side of things to pay off the staff.

SSN have just said that Smith has turned the Wolves job down too. They're reporting that he's not happy with only being offered the job on a short-term basis.

This is getting embarrassing for Wolves, might as well run a competition based on FM12 results for the place as no real manager is going near the post...

seems a bit bizarre as i thought he only wanted the job for the short term

board really are doing themselves no favours with this fiasco.

hopefully the game at the weekend will go "ok" and they might think about giving conner a go at it, not like he can do any worse than bruce.

sigh
If theyre only offering short term deals they surely must have someone lined up for next season

can only think they've got stuffed up by the people refusing the offers.

have to ask the question if they were thinking of replacing mccarthy with curbishley why the hell didn't they hold talks with him prior to releasing mick to see what he would want to take the job.

Are they only offering short-term deals to everybody or was that specific to Smith?

From what I can gather, they failed to land their first few choices (on long term deals) and are now desperate so have offered Smith the deal until the summer when they can look again.

Sacking your good manager as a knee-jerk reaction with what appears to be no thought about what to do next is a total embarrasement to the board.

Laughing stock and now likely relegation unless things are sorted out asap.
