Got run over today, BY MY OWN CAR!!

Any idea what the other driver's charged with? Driving without due care and attention? Reckless driving?

Just had the Police on the phone, so far they are at fault for failing to contact the police after an injury at a road traffic accident. The lady did stop but had to collect her children from school so left before the police arrived. My neighbours took a card containing the details of the policeman she was meant to contact by 12 noon today. At 5:30 pm they still hadn't heard fro her so she is getting a visit tonight.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if she is not insured, her husband has been off work doing all the driving today.

Heh, was going to come in and make a Brian Harvey reference. Keep us updated!

I will do, I am not a compensation type of person but I did talk to a solicitor today. Really as she has mullered my foot I want to get it looked at ASAP. It is going to be 5 weeks before I can see my consultant so I am seeing if I can push it through privately on her insurance, if it turns out she has any.

My neighbour noted her partner was polishing the rear bumper today to get out the scuffs.

I have a feeling this might get a bit nasty.

push for the police to charge her with anything and everything. thats bang out of order carelessness.

i was expecting something more comical though ;( i was coming in to offer my sympathies as i managed to run myself over with a 205gti whilst unloading it from a truck

Sorry to hear about that op. reminded me of something that happened to a mate I play golf with, he isn't the brightest spark, he was driving a decent sized tractor doing some yard clearing at work, spotted something on the deck in front of him so without stopping the tractor he hoped down to run ahead, thinking he would just pick it up and hop back on the tractor. He tripped after just jumping off and his own tractor ran him over! He had a good few broken bones but got no sympathy from the medical staff when he explained what had happened, plus a lot of **** taking from us lot too!

Thought I would dig up my post from a few months back and update you all.

Bad news: My foot looks like it is irreversibly damaged and I will always walk with a limp and suffer arthritis. It has improved a bit but walking any distance is very painful.

Good news: I had a letter from my solicitors today saying the other drivers insurance has admitted full liability so I will be spared a court trial. Not sure what the end result will be but hopefully enough to make some changes to my life that I will need.

Next step is medical examination.

In these situations, I hope that a substantial pay-off is included with your insurance settlement. Long-term mobility problems aren't going to be fun :(

A nice new car / hefty pay out would be the last thing on my mind. I'd rather the ability to run and walk than even have a million pound pay out.

Wish you all the best OP and hope you do at some point recover fully. It's situations like this a substantial payout is deserved so hope you do get one.

Good luck with it. As above I'd prefer my health and mobility over money. But if that's now possible then this one does deserve a good payout.

Yeah same, to be honest I haven't been able to drive since and the long term prognosis for driving a standard car isn't brilliant. So I may have to re-learn how to drive with hand controls.

Maybe I will get a new car but I doubt it will be able to be hotter than your average lawn mower.

Sorry to hear about your foot :/

Keep pestering them about physical therapy, the body can heal tremendously in some cases.

One of the very few occasions where a large payout is warranted due to quite a few changes to normal life you'll have to make I imagine. Hopefully there's something that can be done about it in the future.

You can get left foot conversions done so you can drive an auto with left hand accelerator (where the clutch usually is) and brake left footed (if thats an option). My other half has this and I can't wait for someone to try and steal her car :D (We also put a huge sign on the dashboard whenever she takes it in for service)
