MB Pro 1.1 2.16ghz Core Duo ... upgrade opinions

I just blagged the above macbook off another forum for light use and first thing on the list of 'to dos' is to upgrade it a little.
Am i right in thinking the following:

1. I cant put lion on it
2. I can stick an ssd in it (sata 3?? or just sata 2 or even 1?)
3. I can upgrade the ram from 2gb to 4gb but it will only see 3gb

Don't think you can have Lion as Core Duo isn't 64 bit

You can wack an ssd in there, but it'll be sata 1 speeds (I think) which will still be good as there is no seek time

Chip set according to the wikipedia is the one limited to just 2gig (the 2.1 models have the 3gig limit)

Sata 1 only refers to the speed it goes at, not the physical bus, so any sata drive will fit

Just won't be as fast (in data transfers)

ah ok makes sense, do you know if apple ever released a firmware update to go up to 3gb ram? as I read it was them that put the limit on not the hardware.

You are thinking of the 2.1 sadly (which was firmware limited) the 1.1 which you have (core duo model) is hardware limited to 1gig modules so you can not get more than the 2gig of ram into in
