I invested in a 3d monitor to work with an Nvidia 3D Vision kit that I won (which included the actually quite fun but not as good as it should have been Duke Nukem Forever) and have just seen a few new monitors that are saying they are Nvidia 3D Vision 2 ready.

Whats the difference between 3D Vision and the 2 version? I am extremely happy with the 3D effect and it works amaizngly well in some games I've tried but I was just wondering whats so good about a new version :)

The new version offers larger, more comfortable goggles and the compatible v2 monitors are specifically made to do "Lightboost" ie greatly increase their brightness when running in 3D mode to help offset the loss of light getting to your eyes caused by the active shutter glasses.

THe difference is big enough to matter to some. I couldn't imagine using 3D 24-7 until 3D Vision 2. Now I completely forget I am using it after the first few minutes. The brightness is great and the glasses are big enough to make you forget there is the frame of the glasses obscuring your field of view.

I love the brightness of the "2" Lightboost is a great addition.

The new glasses look much better, the one complaint I had with the old ones was the arms digging in to the side of your head if you wore headphones, after an hour or so I used to have to stick a sock between them and my head as the pain became unbearable, looked super cool too...lol.

I don't think so, but you could just manually turn up the brightness to maximum when you play 3D and turn it back down again when you finish

That would make the colours look bad. 3D Vision 2 actually works in a slightly different way, fundamentally. It swaps out the dark phases for light phases so that you eyes actually spend more time seeing "something" rather than not seeing "anything".

3D Vision glasses work with 3D vision 2 monitors etc, but you won't gain any benefit out of it.

This made me lol

I wear beats by dr.dre and they are fine for wearing with the glasses.
