Just because they are close in price to something else that is also ridiculously overpriced doesn't mean they aren't expensive. 5870 was exactly the same situation to 7970 but it cost £300
Didnt stop you from buying
3930K, Asrock Extreme4-m X79 which is very over priced for its performance (in my opinion and bench-tests ive seen ) against gains over, i5 and i7 oc bundle
Op can afford the 7970 he just asking what to do. 'Horses for courses' i guess each to there own and all that.
They not close but exactly the same price btw.
( ridiculously overpriced) can cover all Pc peripherals at high end lvl.
Plus if all you Nvidia guys think a 7970 beater will be cheaper you will be waiting along time to play youre games in ultra settings
To Op i have waited a year to upgrade from a 5970, missed 6 series out altogether and brought a 5870 to trifire 5970 to make do. Was fast enough at lower res but when i got a Hazro 27, they could not do 12 fps in Skyrim 2560x1440 (because of vram). So i got a XFX Black 7970 which was 100% better but could only manage about 45fps with everthing maxed out in all my games, so i sold all my old cards and got another 7970 to get 60fps at 2560x1440.
They are really good cards and are here now! so you would not regret buying one in my opinion. plus they overclock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
