Hi I was travelling quite slow having just joined a dual carriageway after a roundabout, and suddenly a car behind me is so close that I feel the need to speed up. So I picked up speed, and may have reached 80-90, with this car speeding behind me, I over took a lorry and pulled in front of it as the speeding car flew past. Turns out it was a marked police car, but with it being a non lit area, I didn't realise.
The police car then took a right and I took a left at the roundabout.
What were they doing?

Yes I would hope. It was a BMW and driving at midnight. Insurance and all else in check. Didn't put on lights or sirens, and couldn't actually wait to get past me in the end.

Happened to me a while back. Hadn't noticed them creep up on me on the motorway. Think they were just making a point to slow down. I eased off and they whizzed away. Never heard anything about it again.

He was on the way back to the station as he'd just got the call that the bacon butties were ready and didn't want his to get cold.

I've watched a police car is the blues and twos to go through traffic light after traffic light and through lights on a roundabout. What's the problem you say? he only turned them on when approaching the lights and once through the lights and siren went off. Had half a mind to put in a complaint!

This often happens, indeed it happened today. Was going to a job and was on the M27 in a marked BMW, sat behind car doing 90-95 ish and clearly not seeing us. Made a point to stay behind him whilst we did some checks and turned off on a junction so we could continue to the job we tasked on as that job was more important and he had slowed down a bit by then. If it turned out the car was stolen or there may have been intelligence on possible occupants then it could have been a different story, but it wasn't.

Why on earth would you complain about that?

"Camp Freddy, everyone in the world is bent."

Wise words, most coppers take the **** now and again, it happens. I have several as very good friends so I am not surmising I am stating a fact. Occasionally when they take the **** they should be pulled up on it. Most the time I wouldn't give a stuff as they do a crappy job, they should be cut some slack in my book but let's not suggest most don't play the badge game now and again....some too many times and then they need a slap from the boss man.

I'm just sayin :D

I can honestly say that I have never seen this. Speed, location and status of blue lights is constantly logged and periodically monitored by Sgts etc, in Hants anyway.

Also, Misscheif's post doesn't actually show them doing anything wrong.

I saw something similar to this before... A police car, sirens on, overtook everything, flew up the high street and then... stopped outside the local bakery! I just laughed (was a pedestrian at the time)

Not quite, it could have. They might have simply put the blues and twos on to get through traffic, they may also have taken a call and then been called off too, who knows. I was at Heathrow 2 weeks back. Stuck, Police car comes up, puts on blues and two, goes past some traffic and turns them off. To me however he was on a call as his body language in the car suggested he was looking for something/someone, head all over the place like a prairie dog.
