Over there...
Decided I want one of these so the question is - any news on a refresh in the horizon soon?

Buy or Wait is always tough with regards to apple kit, imo.

We bought a load of stuff last year in October (i7 Radeon Mac Mini, 32GB Wifi iPad2, Apple TV 2, 3TB Time Capsule....)

If new stuff gets announced and its loads better, you can always be happy in the knowledge that if you looked after your kit and kept the boxes, you can always make good money selling them and pay a minimal cost to upgrade.

I won't bother upgrading to a new Apple TV as my bedroom TV is only 720p, unless the features go far beyond that.

Would we upgrade the iPad? maybe. We use it A LOT, and decent improvements could be nice to have.

I'm umming and arring about this at the moment too. I think I'm going to wait til the 7th and see if anything's announced, then buy either way. I'm really impatient though, I've made my mind up that I want one and it's really hard not to buy one, my Mac Mini is giving me grief under the TV and I want to use it purely as a little server now.

That's what I'm like - I make a decision and go for it, but will wait as its just over a week away

I'll be getting the iPad 3 too at some point, my 1 has been a trusty servant, and I'll keep it for my las to watch films on in the car and for games

If you dont want to jailbreak then it's probably worth waiting. However the ATV2 replacement and iPad 3 will almost certainly be running iOS 5.1 which could take a while to jailbreak.

Definitely wait until after the 7th of March.

If you only want it for airplay though... would an airport express do what you need and offer additional features for less money?

I have 2 express, but as said I want video AirPlay.

I take it my iPhone 4 and ipad1 can AirPlay video ok? (not mirror)

Definitely worth waiting just incase. Although the announcement is rumoured to be 7th March which is less than 14 days away, so you could buy the Apple TV and take it back if they announce an update.

As with most apple products, buy at a refresh and you'll likely have 12 months of use before it is surpassed.

With a refresh likely in less than 2 weeks hold on..... and if it isn't announced hold on a little longer.

I've been sitting on the cash for an iPad 2 for the past 4 months... still holding on

I bought one about 2 weeks ago, jailbroken straight out of the box and the experience is amazing with XBMC.

I have iplayer, tvcatchup and demand 5 working fine, for some reason 4od doesn't want to play but then the opportunity to have all of my content with fanart/imdb ratings etc mean my mac mini is now pretty much redundant.

No regrets at all.

If they do announce another that perhaps has a proper web browser and apps then I'd probably buy another lol.

Just set up airplay on mine and now I consider it to be properly complete, anything I can't get via an XBMC add on I can stream from my ipad via airplay. It really is the perfect compact media centre.

For that reason I'm going to get another and replace the atom box I have in the bedroom :) woohoo!

Im buying one next week as I plan to jailbreak - if i wasnt going to jailbreak it I would wait...but why wouldnt anyone want to jailbreak it :D
