i7 Voltage

I have a 2600k and a p8z68-v pro motherboard, and my CPU voltage is set to 1.38v, but CPU-Z reads core voltage as 1.48 and above sometimes. Is there a way to stop this? (as I've heard it's bad to go above 1.42v)

what level llc are you using? use less cpu voltage through lowering cpu voltage offset

Is there any way to do this through AI Suite II? I'd rather not restart

best set it in bios ai suite wont be as reliable,just leave cpu voltage alone and set offset to +0.005 just one click,set llc to high or the one below it if not overclocked,save/exit thats it,then look see howmuch it uses in cpu-z

im only using 1.36v for 4.5ghz so you shouldnt need 1.4

yes,read this thread it might help you,if your at stock leave vccio alone and use one level less llc

Yes, higher you set it the higher your load volts will be in compensation for Vdroop and can easily get out of hand. Best to tweak to find the best offset and LLC setting.

do quick test with intel burn test,on highest stress or on high,download realtemp and keep cores under 72c-75c,if higher stop the test and only do a max of 10runs as its very stressfull on the cpu

if it passes tht then its pretty stable

Is what I did. Temps aren't a problem due to liquid.

75-80C in approx 25c ambient or so is fine. I test in 30C ambient and use about 82-83C as my top tolerated temp under LINX/IBT which equates to about 74C in normal ambients. 10 runs just isn't enough, i'm more than qualified on this particular subject as i've clocked many many SB rigs over this year. I do 150 runs, i've seen many a fail at any point under 150 but never any over, 24hrs prime blend min, not had a rig fall over yet. It might be stressful on the cpu, but in actual fact you might have knocked off a few days of its overall life, which in the timeframe of 10yrs or so is a drop in the ocean.

I wouldn't run IBT for that long, there were quite a few reports on Xtremesystems of CPU degradation using Linpack based stress testing tools over prolonged periods of time.

Prime95 blend is a much safer bet and will test for the clock fluctuation instabilities as well.

Possibly on the bleeding edge and with massive clocks and volts but i've yet to see any degradation with my 'mainstream' 4.5-4.8Ghz clocks and i usually run that sort of test once, not constantly.

150 runs!!!!,its a wonder you have any cpu left to test,10-20 runs MAX is perfectly fine to deem stable,it will usually fall over in those first 10-20 runs if its not stable,everyone ive come across thats experienced always suggests not to do many runs with this program as it tortures cpu's

anymore than 10-20 runs is pointless imo and un needed strain on your cpu

Dude, i've clocked well over a 100 SB rigs since it came out and have always used IBT or LINX, IBT before it even had a GUI. Please don't tell me how much runs is enough as 10-20 runs is NOT, i've seen MANY fails much later on but none past 150 thus far. Is it torture? yes, does it take long? yes... has any rig been damaged or fallen over due to overclocking after passing this? no.
