What webcam for 24/7 feed

Hi

Need to buy a webcam but it’s going to be on 24/7 365 days a year as a live feed. Do I need to be careful which webcam I buy or will any do the trick ?. The reason I ask is because someone mentioned than the bog standard Logitech wouldn’t be fit for this kind of role.

I've got the Logitech Pro 9000 HD & the sound/image quality is absolutely fantastic. Well worth the money.
 
Will you be using it indoors / outdoors?

If it's going to be used 24/7 will it have to cope with night/dark broadcast?

Also, are you wanting it to be discreet?
 
You'll want 2 buy a back up just incase, but I use the Logitech C910/920 and the microsoft lifecam studio for streaming.
Admittedly the longest I've had them on for is 24hrs just to test but they have been superb.
 
What's the actual purpose? And how do you want to present the feed? Online stream on a website? Private connection?
 
You might want to consider an IP camera which is standalone instead of one of the others listed so far which require that they are connected to a PC all the time.

Would be more expensive up front but not being connected to a PC would cost less in power requirements, be smaller overall and would be quieter.
