On a reasonably low mileage gearbox, I'd go for a rebuild, if I'm honest. That said, drive it for a few months and see if it gets worse.
I had quite a successful day at Silverstone GP yesterday. The track is nothing short of amazing.
Had a few issues early on in the day - I trusted one of the nippers at the usual garage to help me with my camber, after all he's only got to turn a bolt until I tell him to, then tighten it up. On arrival to Silverstone, I did a quick check around the car as a precautionary measure and found the front wheels floating on the camber adjustment! Not too much of an issue - 20 minutes later it was setup by eye, and although the tracking was out, it worked quite well!
Before I left, I was plagued with injector issues as well as a leaking shock - none of which seemed to have any major impact on my day.
I'm so happy with how well the Clio lapped it up. It's nothing like the car I hate driving on the road. I'm also amazed at how progressive break away is at the limit and it's new found tendency to a gentle dab of oversteer rather than understeer when you over-cook it.
AD08s barely look like they've worn at all, and they were really given some stick.
All in all, a very successful day. I think it's concreted my desire to turn the Clio in to something a little more focussed, so the first step is to find something new as a daily that can tow.
