Free HIV treatment for foreigners.

On the one hand, I think it's good that our country has enough of a social conscious to want to try and assist others. However, there is so many ills that are happening to our people who have been here all their lives.

I believe that Britons should come first. However, I imagine the cost of this project is going to be naff all really.

what?! where have you read this

look, ok, people have HIV and that's bad but as a contrast, you cannot even go to the US on holiday if you have HIV yet we're letting illegal immigrants with HIV stay here and we'll fund their treatment. they obviously don't understand how the transmission process works anyway and i can see this doing nothing else but increasing the number of cases. HIV can be treated, not cured. i'm convinced a lot of foreign people would have absoloutely no grasp of this and think they can go around having unprotected sex or sharing needles.
 
It depends what it's going to cost. If it's very expensive I really couldn't support it due to the fact there isn't really any spare money available. Secondly you would expect such services to be a priority for people who actually live in the country and pay taxes toward such things.

It appears to be just another slightly strange ruling that doesn't seem all that sensible and seems a poor attempt to improve our international image.
 
What could possibly go wrong with this plan? It's not like there's an entire continent with an AIDS epidemic without access to treatment is there?

i dont understand why someone with immigrants with aid are even allowed into the country...

i bet they dont go around telling people they have aids either they probably just spread it about willy nilly.

theres one club in newcastle where all the foreigners hang out chasing chubby women it wouldnt suprise me if they all had aids considering the countries they come from

Quite. Whilst it's anecdotally seen by some as a cure in subsaharan Africa, it is by no means a majority held view.

I also wonder how many people posting negative things about those with HIV/AIDs have actually had a test themselves...

Nah, it's a genuine thing.

However, I don't think it's a commonly held belief, certainly not like desires made it out to be.

A survey carried out by UNISA at the Daimler Chrysler plant in East London found that 18 percent of the 498 laborers inquired thought that having sex with a virgin cures HIV/AIDS.

Even if you are serious, which i doubt you are, it won't stop heroin users contracting HIV thru needle sharing :(

i've had 2. first time was the scariest thing i'd ever done. the man who tested me was very good and reassuring and informed me of the FACT that HIV in the UK is predominantley found in homosexual men and people of arab/african race or needle users another reason i can't understand why we let people with HIV in as it is a fact it is found more in certain races than others. this is not a racist view, this is a fact.

I agree with this in most circumstances (e.g. housing) but I generally think that everyone should be treated equally when it comes to life threatening disease. I don't care if that means budgets have to be readjusted or I have to pay slightly more tax per year, I don't like to think of people suffering unnecessarily in this country when they could be recieving help.

What a philanthropist I am :p
