London people, moving help please!

You're forgetting the night bus.

There is a N55 that goes from central to Woodford Green which is pretty fun on a Friday night, I lived in Chigwell for a while, it is a bit far out but completely doable travel wise.

Bethnal/Stepney/Mile End are cool places to go out but I personally wouldn't want to live there. No offence to anyone that does.

Wanstead is a much nicer, place to live which is in between the two, not sure on the price of rentals there though

I could push to £600pcm inc bills probably.

It's funny going through the Spareroom site and after filtering through (double room>no smoking>professionals>age max 27>photos only) and generally coming up with nothing, ha

Yep, it generally takes about a month, and a lot of visits. Bear in mind that it's a renters market at the moment, we got 120 emails about our spare room, had 20 visits, and chose 1. So we had the luxury of picking who we wanted to live with - you don't just turn up with the money and it's yours (A bit harsh, but that's the game I suppose). You'd be surprised at what little things will turn you off someone (fat, boring, ugly, bad taste, political leanings etc).

Have a look at moveflat and gumtree as well.

It could be worth going to the spareroom speed dating events, I haven't been but sound like quite a good way of getting it sorted. Another option is to use that sort of thing to find a few people who'd all want to live together, and then go direct to landlords/agents.

As said I'm quite fortunate that I can stay at my aunts for awhile without any trouble, sleep on her couch. Realistically I can't afford to move out till probably June at the earliest

The less people I can live with, the better, ha.

I live East. It's fine, got a pretty bad reputation for people whop've never lived East. I've lives South West/West London, North and now East and I have to say I'm enjoying myself a hell of a lot more now I'm over this way.

Whitechapel, Bethnal Green, Stepney, Mile End, all OK areas to live. There's a guy on here who spent a few years in Limehouse I think, and he tends to recommend it to most people who ask.

I was born within the sound of Bow Bells, i've lived in East London all my life, 29 years, overall, it's a **** hole.

Im just between Wapping Limehouse and Shadwell. I have had no problems here and it is good for pubs near the river links to the City and Canary wharf.

Well, a mixture of 'good', 'alright' and '****ing **it' so far

You get what you pay for tbh. If you want nice East London, nearer to the city you will pay a premium.

Nicest areas of East London overall for less crime etc:- South Woodford, Wanstead, Snaresbrook but would probably be too quiet for you.

I lived on the Isle of Dogs for 3 years, and Bethnal Green and Mile End were ****holes.

Maybe they have improved over the past 5 years, but they very grimy back in 2008.

The more I look at it the more likely I think it'll be I end up around Highbury & Islington/Finsbury park and just overgrounding it.

Good man. :)

Best option there for you.

There will always be debates about Beth Green and that general area...it's quirky. A bit like Dalston. Trendy to some and awful to others.

:D Each to their own I suppose. I've got to admit East London to tend to smell a bit during the summer... but apart from that I've really enjoyed living there.

Any more of ya?

Spent the week casually looking at stuff on Spareroom in the areas I've mentioned, talk about there being nothing suitable, haha.
