I have been contemplating which way to go so hoping you guys can help.

Parts I already have are
4GB XMS3 RAM
500GB WD Blue
both from the MM.

Main use for this PC will be internet/coursework/light gaming.
By light, I mean Alien Swarm/TF2/Dota 2/LoL.
No BF3 or Skyrim as I already have it for the Xbox and know that a £200 budget wont cut it.

So, the dilemma:
With £200(give or take £10) to spend on Mobo/CPU/Case/PSU/(poss. GPU) , what do I go for?

Do I go:
1. H67 + G620 + 2nd hand GPU (HD4850 price range)
2. H67 + i3 2100
3. Llano 3850 (I have my eye on one in the MM)

The H67 I'm talking about is the Intel BLKDH67BL H67 from OCUK's clreance line.

If I go for option 2, it will mean that I cant play games until I get more funds but the I3 has the best processing power out of the 3.

Case will be the white Sharkoon Vaya even though it doesnt have top vents for fans.
As for PSU either a XFX450w or a Antec TP 550w from the MM.

Sorry for the very long post, but I tried to give as much info. as possible.
Thanks for reading :)

Hi, thanks for the spec.

Any reasons you opted for a Celeron and not a Pentium?

The Psu deal is great but unfortunately I dont have the funds atm, but will do on Monday.

Also, I dont get free delivery to NI, which means that I will have to buy everything in 1 order to save on postage.

Just a side question, do you think the XFX450w is enough for a 9800GTX+ ?

I went for the celeron because of the price, and it is good enough for your needs.

I wouldn't.

I would go for a 500-550W.

hi, all. just a little update.

have £245 in my bank and have the following in my basket.

Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D3V GEN3
BitFenix Merc Alpha
DVI-D to DVI-D Monitor Cable
550W Cooler Master GX
Intel Pentium G620
2x120mm fans from the MM
GPU either 9800GTX+ or HD5770, depending on seller shipping to NI.

what do you guys think? any changes?
should i keep the 550w psu or downgrade to a 450w?

Id personally go i3

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i3-2100 3.10GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £89.99
1 x Asus P8H61-M Intel H61 Chipset (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard **B3 REVISION** £49.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus' Power Supply (CMPSU-430CXUKV2) £39.98
1 x BitFenix Merc Beta Gaming Case - Black £32.99
Total : £227.95 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Enough budget for odds and sods like Optical, cables and fans.
Then buy a GPU on the MM or something.

Also, if your only planning on using a 4850 (or similar) a decent 430w PSU will cut it.

the price of the GPU was counted into the £245 budget.

edit: so basically

mobo=45
cpu=45
case=30
psu=40
gpu=40-50
fans=5

the above are just rough estimates and there may be give or take £2 for some.

yeah ended up buying the following

Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D3V GEN3
BitFenix Merc Alpha
DVI-D to DVI-D Monitor Cable
550W Cooler Master GX
Intel Pentium G620
2x120mm fans from the MM

just waiting for the seller to get back to me about the GPU.

yeah, i suppose.

dont want to start another thread in the GPU forum so, heres another question.

out of the following GPUs, which is the best suited for me?

HD4850 512mb
HD4870 1GB
HD4890 1GB
9800GTX+ 1GB
GTX280 1GB

wow, fast reply as usual, thanks.

just realised, forgot to include the HD5770 1GB into the list :o

is DX11 worth having as it seems that its the only advantage the HD5770 has over the other cards (well, power consumption and temps too)

A 5770 was equal to a GTX260 (216 core), so Im sure you can figure the rest:)

yeah, that was just me being stupid :rolleyes:

still wondering if its worth it to sacrifice performance to get DX11...:confused:

its just mainly between GTX280 vs HD5770 now :o
