Awesome dad is awesome...

i assume you'll be telling the job centre about this change in circumstances? there's no way you'll be eligible for benefits if you have your own house.

since when? lol maybe research your daily mail based opinions

the only things that effect JSA are savings

he could even setup a tenancy agreement with his dad and get housing benefit then his dad could pocket the money if he wanted to.

He doesn't own a house and isn't working. I assume he's fully eligible for JSA.

His dad owns the house and is just letting him stay there rent free by the sounds of it.

Yeah, tbh I'd consider that pretty disrespectful. Why should be be paying your mortgage when you're going to be living it up?

Congrats on the house, though ...

LOL benfits nazis appearing :p

OP Doesn't OWN a house, Im guessing the mortgage is in fathers name then really his father could charge him board if he wanted/needed which could then be claimed under housing benefit, wether or not he chooses to is upto him.

OP's change of circumstances?
He no longer has to pay rent?
Which may have been subsidised/paid anyway under the benefits scheme?

What possible impact does that have on him having a job?
Also if his father then decides to charge board/rent and benefits people pay this what relevnace does this have? They would've been paying it to the council anyway?

SkyHD? Benefits? contracts? no thankyou.
Sky HD isnt all its cracked up to be, same movies over and over again, repeats of old tv shows over and over again. I've cancelled mine and wont miss it.

£6 a month to netflix will do me, iplayer and stuff on top if needed.

BB, you seriously can't count BB as a luxury any more.
Go with Sky, Telephone and BB, not really expensive, no limits and decent speeds.

Im sure even the benefits nazis can justify a telephone and BB connection can be usefull in looking for work

With SkyHD being so expensive and you are on JSA, do you think you can afford to buy food/pay electric & gas/pay Council Tax/Pay water rates and other various bills?

Also just to add, get ready for a lodger, his SWT will begrudge the fact he's shelling out mortgage money for your digs when she wants new shoes, or a holiday abroad.

I never got the full HD package, just Sports and Entertainment.

I really want a job, I can't even begin to describe how I feel not working. It's horrible, really is. The job centre did say I wasn't eligible for housing benefits due to being under 25...

With my girlfriend moving in with me, everything will be shared. I really hope to get a job soon so I can pay for the place as my own...

Perhaps do some volunteering at the local charity shop to keep the CV filled? How about temping/approaching places offering to work for free for experience?

I'm helping out at my last place of work. I do have a job, just work is proper proper dead...I have been told it will pick up around Easter...

JSA is not for Sky HD and infinity broadband. This is what is wrong with society.

What is it for then? It buys food, and pays 1/2 my bills. I then have spare.

Maybe offering your old man some rent money and paying your way? I have to admit you've been very lucky but HD and posh Broadband would be right at the bottom of my list of priorities if I was in your position and I'd be embarrassed to have them installed knowing I was basically sponging off my parents and the tax payer. It would be wiser for you to stash some cash incase you're good fortune goes the other direction.
