Awesome dad is awesome...

People need to get off their high horse. His girlfriend is moving in with him who I assume works and they are splitting the bills. About £80 a month for Sky and BT BB then half it for the OP.

People say that's what's wrong with society. What do you want him to do, give it to charity? If he's got it spare then he can spend it on what he likes.

Why not use the remainder to pay the other 1/2 of your bills?

Because then I would be paying more than my girlfriend who works

Maybe offering your old man some rent money and paying your way? I have to admit you've been very lucky but HD and posh Broadband would be right at the bottom of my list of priorities if I was in your position and I'd be embarrassed to have them installed knowing I was basically sponging off my parents. It would be wiser for you to stash some cash incase you're good fortune goes the other direction.

I do agree with you somewhat, but I blame my parents, I had a cushy life when I lived with them, had all the luxuries and what not. I did offer to pay my dad, he doesn't want my money...top chap! :p

Well said Peter. Although a lot of people on JSA just ***** all the money on weed...

I have cut a lot of luxuries out sadly, like buying all the latest games, just can't spare that much, and going out at weekend, that has stopped...

So spending £480 a year of taxpayers money on premium TV services and premium broadband is ok?

Should he not wear shoes and live in a cardboard box smoking crack aswell?

It's an option of course but not one I'd be happy recommending.

However the questions are not to say that broadband is not highly useful but does it need to be one of the more costly deals when basic broadband will do much the same job and whichever way you want to dress it up Sky is a luxury when Freeview gives you many channels and costs nothing monthly. Potentially there are deals to be had where you're bundling broadband with TV and phone line services but that's not what Jaffa_Far is suggesting hence some doubts being expressed.

Sorry when you say 'my' bills, I'd assume you mean yours, rather than your girlfriends half. Thought it was a bit odd.

Now go and give the remaining money to the homeless who don't have rich daddies buying them houses. Joke! ;)

If he has got it spare then why should he be getting benefit off the government?

They pay a rate, £106 a fortnight, should I tell them not to and to change it because it's too much?

high horse, get of it.

GET A JOB YOU BUM!

Easier said than done! If you had read the thread, you would realise I HAVE A JOB! I AM EMPLOYED, work has dried up and should pick up around Easter. Downside, it is not guaranteed. I am looking for a full-time, permanent job, hence JOB SEEKERS ALLOWANCE.

Ok, so simply put "If he's got spare". That 'spare' money is tax payers money. People aren't telling him to not spend his money wisely, they're telling him to not spend their money wisely.

I am not on a high horse at all.

I am simply pointing out that you seem to have spare money to ***** away on luxuries so you therefore clearly don't need all of that JSA that you are receiving.

I do get what your saying, but with me working straight out of school, and into full-time work, I have paid my fair share. I am not a 'dole doser' I am seeking re-employment so to speak.
