hey guys, just thought id let ya know, i finally bought a psu. just did a coin toss between the Antec TPN 650 and the TX750 and the corsair won. so yeah a lot of you guys will be happy to hear that.
so now my system looks like this:
Coolermaster storm scout case - corsair tx750 v2 power supply - asus sabertooth p67 - intel i5 2500k - corsair hydro h80 watercooler - corsair dominator 4gb ddr3 - HIS Radeon hd4870 1gb gpu - a 2.5" 120gb sata hard drive temporarily - sata dvd drive.
what else do you think I can add to this? are there any components or anything that im missing? I will be upgrading hard drives, in a couple of months, when hard drives drop in price, and ill buy a used hd4870 to run xfire, or selling my current and buying a 7770 or gtx 560ti.

My only thoughts are looking at a Z68 board which can offer some extra features but its personal preference.
 
Get a Z68 board, they're pretty much the same price as a P67 anyway and save for a new card as opposed to crossfiring that one.
 
thanks olivier renault - i thought that myself, but 40 quid for another card did tempt me to be honest, saw a gold card go for 35, should have got it lol, but ill upgrade that in august.
lol, if i knew how to post a pic on here id show you a pic of my order :P my build will be done at very least anyways, I will be able to use it friday if the power supply arrives by then!

only reason i did not opt for z68 is a friend happened to sell me his hd4870, 4gb of brand new corsair dominators and his sabertooth p67 for 160 quid, plus he needed the money so i just got that.
but i must say, i wont be using ivybridge, my 2500k will be my heart and soul for 2-3 years minimum now :) i love the look of the board too :)

already bought the board mate, if you look below i mentioned i got it with 4gb corsair doms and hd4870 for £160. thanks
 
Not a bad deal you did there, the 4870 is easily worth ~£50, so getting 4GB of RAM + nice P67 board for £110 is good. Though make sure you get the receipt off him for the motherboard and RAM, so you can RMA them if anything goes wrong with them.

Have you already bought the H80 cooler? If not then I would recommend a different cooler - something like a Thermalright TRUE, Venemous X or Prolimatech Megahalems. One of these will be cheaper, quieter and cool just as well. So long as you put the memory in banks 2 & 4 then you shouldn't have issues with clearance with the dominator RAM and those coolers.
 
i know the cooler fits, with the ram, but sadly i did purchase the cooler for 45 :/ and yah i will ask him if its a receipt or like an online purchase order. how would i go about changing ownership like that if its not a receipt? hes happy to swap warranties over, hes a good fellow gaming mate :)

ps yeah i know, mates rates deal lol, he paid 59 for the ram and 220 for the board :P and the h80 is a bit of a pain because if i put it on the back cooler, it blocks one of the other 120mm coolers off. see, i have a 120mm fan at the back, and one at the top right next to it, and no matter what i do, it blocks one of them off putting it on.
could i put it at the front in the 120mm intake fan slot?

I believe you can do a memory RMA direct with Corsair if you wish - so you will probably just need proof of purchase.

As for the motherboard, AFAIK ASUS do their UK motherboard RMAs through the reseller -so your friend will need to help you handle that if you have a problem with your motherboard within the remaining warranty period.

With the vast majority of PC components the warranty is only valid for the person who originally purchased it and can't be transferred. Some services aren't too strict and a second user can initiate an RMA - so long as they have the proof of purchase or the original box. However, the majority of RMAs need to be done through the online reseller by the original buyer - so for this stuff you would need to get your friend's help.

Put it at the back, and leave the top fan enplacement empty. It's best to have the H80 sucking / extracting air from the back than the top (especially if anything falls into the vent). The case is not the biggest for the configuration you are after. Air cooler (Hyper 212 evo, that kind of thing) should give you room for both sets of fans.

couldnt i put them on the side panel as intakes because it will suck cool air in the air will then heat up from the board and rise, and then disperse out of the top vent where the fan was? is what my dad said.
 
I wouldn't suggest putting it on the side panel for a couple of reasons:

- If you take the side panel off too fast you may forget you have the cooler attached to it, which could have bad consequences
- The side fan is used to provide cooling to your graphics card, if you replace it with a H80 rad then instead of cool air, you will be providing warm air to an already hot-running graphics card
- You will be replacing a 200mm side intake fan- which can move a lot more air than a pair of 120mm fans pushing air through a radiator

I would agree with olivier renault and put the H80 rad on the rear fan mount.
 
ah - ok that is fair enough. and the side panel thing - quite likely to happen lol. would you recommend me just getting a dust filter in the empty fan slot then (probably the top as mentioned)?
 
You can get magnetic fan filters that will just stay in place, usually you fit them in between the fan and case and thats how that stay there.
 
Fan filters vary in price, from around £3-£7-£8 each, so not too expensive

Sounds like you got a good deal for your board etc... mate :) Z68 would've been more "futureproof" and upgradeable though ;)

thanks man, i thought at the price, i may as well buy a top end-ish p67 series rather than a low-mid end z68, and as i say, 2500k is my pride n joy for the next 2-3 years :)
