Idiots who move next door to a racetrack

Bugs the hell out of me. I remember a case years ago when a new housing estate was built next to a massive intensive pig farm with 1000's of pigs and then people in summer tried to get the pig farm shut down because of the smell and they couldn't put their washing out or enjoy their gardens.

I even have it in the village where I live. Two new big houses were built at the top of one of my fields where I kept a haystack. Before the new owners had even moved in (wealthy from down south) he rang me up and asked if I could put my haystack somewhere else as it spoils the view from his house.

damn shame the same judges weren't used for the Croft case, I'd still be doing trackdays there now. A victory for common sense.

Schools are another one. People move into roads where schools are located and then whinge about the fact that people park there twice a day.

I have had experience with this. Just because it's time to pick up the kids from school it doesn't give people the right to park wherever they want, including on the edge of roundabouts or on junctions!

While I agree completely with the desicion that these people are idiots, how is this any different to the similar story about the apartments being built near The Ministry of Sound in London? Because that sells alcohol it seemed to be more a 50/50 split on opinion, while this is much more one sided?

I kind of see the point of that one though as people on school runs are generally pyjama-clad lunatics with no regard for anyone or anything around them.

I was just about to mention this, and I don't think it's any different at all

Hopefully MoS can use case this as a precedent for a decision in their favour!

As a speedway fan I can only think this is fantastic news. Hopefully motorsports can begin to fight back against these idiots.

Completely agree, moving in to an area next to a race track and then moaning about it is ridiculous.

You couldn't make it up. Buying a house before researching the area? When I buy a house I sit in the car with the windows open for an hour at various times of the day. Potential to get arrested, but well worth it!

I work in a flour mill, long established, there has been a flour mill on site for 300 years.

Local council wanted to develop the town and destroyed a car park next door and built flats. The owners of the flats lost a campaign against the site for noise pollution and the local council development department got in the poop for telling everyone via new papers they are developing the land the mill is on (which is owned by the owner).

Whilst the flats were being sold off I went in to the sales office and registered my interest and asked about the ugly noisy flour mill next door and was told it would be demolished in 3 years.

There are plenty of numpties in this country.

A lot of my mates live within ear shot of Mallory, I love hearing the bikes screaming about & I've not heard a single person moan about it.

A rare win for common sense.

Anyone who moves into an area where there is something established, such as an airport or a racetrack, or a pub, or a nightclub etc, have no rights to complain about noise from said establishment.

The only thing I wanted out of this story was to see the straw bale wall they erected around their house!

We had something similair up our way when RAF Wittering was flying Harriers, some couple bought a country house to make it into a B&B then complained about the Harriers, it gone thrown out, partly due to the RAF could show they had flight ops that day, and partly the agent telling the court.

Although maybe when you bend over to pay for surveys this sort of thing should be checked for?

For me, that's the correct decision. I mean the racetrack was there first, a tiny amount of research into the local area would have prevented all this.

Yep, it's their stupid fault for not doing any research

I have no idea how they managed to land a nuisance claim if the track was so close, how it was unknown to them is just beyond me.
