BF3 Gaming at 2560x1440 - ATI 6990 + 2700K

i think BF3 doesn't performance well with CF/TRIFIRE anyway....

i have trifire and even at 1920x1080 on max settings i get 78fps~ but the fps drops too 40's-50's~. if i try anything higher than 1080p the fps goes low to about 40's...

I'm getting more than that at 2560x1600 Ultra 4XAA Quadfire.

ok maybe i've found the issue..

gpu1 is only at 51% usage in game, gpu2/3 are at 100%.

so i guess i got a driver issue.... im using 12.3 beta. what are you guys useing?

Hmm, i disagree with some of this, i run my 2600k at 4.8 with 2 6970's at stock and i can run it on ultra and everything on full apart from MSAA and this is at 2560x1600 so something isnt right. Im just on the older 11.3 cats i think and every map i play i dont get any slowdown i could run an fps counter but i dont see the need as 'to me' its absolutely fine.

be intersting to see if you installed the 12.2 cats if you see a drop in FPS - thats if you would be willing to try.

Well, you said fact at the end so i guess it must be true. ;)

"Overclocking your Core i7 processor is not going to help deliver more performance in Battlefield 3 according to our test using a single GeForce GTX 580 card. We observed that a 49% increase in clock speed for the Core i7 allowed for a mere 6% increase in frame rates, For the most part Battlefield 3 doesn’t appear to be all that CPU demanding, at least this is what we can tell from testing the multiplayer portion that the beta allows us to test. We'll be keen to revisit these results once the full version of the game is released."
Contradiction at the finest? :D

Seriously...6% increase in frame rate is not much? What exactly were they expecting? Extra 15-30% frame rate for just overclocking CPU alone?

I see that too TBH on the 6990 - sometimes it depends on what the card is trying to render i .e it may not be a busy server or complex terrain , just some element in the terrain e.g trees , glass , smoke .... etc

For what its worth I went back to the 11.9's tonight with the 11.9 CAP4 profiles and I think there is a massive difference in performance. Not so much in brute FPS but the game just feels and plays smoother for me .....
