They just said on the news that he never smoked or drank, cycled every day and was fit and healthy, to then die of a massive heart attack at 66.

So, all this clean living, it's not that you live longer, it just feels like it

The lead guitarist in my bands has got way over £5000 worth of Monkees memoribilia and goes to see them on every UK tour since he was a young lad.
He'll be gutted about this but he was more of a Michael Nesmith fan.

It would seem that in a lot of cases, it's down to genetics and chance more than anything. Look at Churchill, drank like a fish (also, the only world leader to drink Stalin under the table I believe), smoked like a chimney and ate whatever the hell he wanted, and lived into his 90's.
