Sad to see his marriage and life end due to Raul Moat actions

The policeman shot and blinded by crazed gunman Raoul Moat was found dead at his home last night in a suspected suicide.

The body of PC David Rathband was discovered by police inside his home in Blyth, Northumberland, at around 7pm.

He had posted a number of messages on Twitter about the breakdown of his marriage in the days leading up to his death.

Feel sorry for both him and his wife. The whole thing must have been a hell of an ordeal for both of them. At least the hell is over for him and his wife can move on. That's about the most positive thing I can think of about it :(

Wonder how he did it (committed suicide)? The article doesn't say.

Pc Rathband told how he hoped to take part in a trial of the pioneering machine, which helps blind people ‘see’ using their tongue.

Wrong place, wrong time and your entire life can be devastated. RIP to him, God knows how his family must feel. :(

Terrible news, but I have to ask how much his injuries led to his marriage break up. The daily rag would like you to believe this was all Moats fault as it's a better story.

Perhaps after 20 years the marriage was already going downhill and his wife stuck it out to nurse him?
 
Must have been too big a fall from being an officer of the law to being a blind man dependant on a person who he was abusive too....then she is all he has and she leaves him when he he needs her most.

I always thought the guy seemed to be struggling badly, the constant charity events in which he participated never seemed to be off the radio and it always came across as if they were a distraction from the injuries he suffered.

Very tragic.
 
Woah.

I didn't know the man, but I would imagine that after being blinded he couldn't take it anymore.

The entire story is a sad affair and should never of happened.
