Hey,

Was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything simmilar, my friend just got his Polo (think its an 04 plate) back from a garage, it was in for an insurance job - small dent and scratched door.

He just came over to my house and the engine warning light has come on, theres something up with the brakes, and when turning the wheel, theres a definate grinding vibration comming through the tyre.
Checked the bolts and they seem tight..

They've had the car for nearly 2 weeks, and it only went in for some minor bodywork - I don't know what the hell they'de done to it!

Anyway, he called the garage straight back and they are sending someone out to 'road test' it tomorrow... the garage manager said on the phone something like 'it was only in to get the door pannel sorted' so theres a distinct feeling they are going to claim it was nothing to do with thier work...

Sounds crazy, I know, until we googled the garage, and the results are pretty frightening to say the least...

Anyone got any advice if they deny responsibility, as it does sound far fetched, but I know him and the car well, and ive never noticed anything wrong with it, and hes not the sort of person to drive round with those sorts of issues..

Cheers

Ahhhh Nationwide the fleets friend.

Nasty repair outfit mainly used by fleets and hire companies to turn round cars quickly, shocking quality and everyone is on timed bonus so they couldn't give a monkeys about quality.

The one near me has a habit of having burnout competitions and ramming contests on a Saturday, like a bunch of knuckle dragging apes.

Probably spent the last 2 weeks as the butty run car driven like its been stolen.

Made the awful awful decision to leave an Impreza at a Kwik Fit years ago. When asked what I was doing by a mate driving so fast on the dual carriageway I wasn't hugely impressed. Made an official complaint and had the entyre garage staff after my blood for a while.

Colour me shocked.

The way those morons treat cars is vile, if I did a single job like they did I would be out of the door in a instant.

Call me a cynic but when I put my car into a garage for work I make a note of the mileage. Anything mileage wise over what i think is acceptable for testing I wouldn't be impressed!

Aye, its also interesting to flick over the avg mpg on the trip. Mine was down to 13 when I got in last time it was in the garage

To be fair the average mpg will drop quite quickly when the car is just sat in place idling and the short test drivers circa 3-miles are probably more 30mph stop-start then cruising.

A car in for a coolant issue may be sat in one spot running for half an hour dropping the counter to single digits.
